Sanya Dadonghai Scenic Area is one of the three most popular tropical seaside tourism areas in Sanya Hainan along with Sanya Bay and Yalong Bay. It is the first free open scenic area in Sanya. This scenic area lies between Tuwei Hill and Luhuitou Hill, about 2.5 miles (4km) southeast of downtown Sanya. Particularly favorable natural conditions, combined with convenient transport and perfect amenities, make Dadonghai an ideal destination for your holidays.

 Dadonghai is embraced by hills on three sides, with another side being a crescent-shaped bay, which enjoys 3,200 yards (2.9km) of coastline. Located near the southern point of China, this area has agreeable weather all year round. The water temperature is about 20℃ (70 ℉) even in winter. It is richly endowed by nature with clear blue sky and seawater, vernal sunshine, soft breezes, fine sand, and verdant hills. With such good conditions, Dagonghai is favored by tourists. No matter the season, Dadonghai has thousands of visitors from every corner of the world.

Here, one can take a leisurely sunbath, listen to the sound of waves, collect shells or build sand castles on the beach, or dive into the deep water to meet a variety of fishes. Dadonghai provides visitors with Barrier Reef Diving, Pirate Bar Diving Club, and Global Diving Base. About 330 yards (300 meters) east along the beach is the Seashore Park. Standing on the top of the small hill inside the park, you have a panoramic view of the beach and the vast water. On the east side of the beach there is an Amusement Park with thrilling activities such as a Pirate Boat, merry-go-round and bungee jumping

As a long-standing scenic area, Dadonghai has everything to support a hot seaside tourist area, including a large shopping square on the shore, amusement companies, and a famous dive company that can provide scuba diving, ship diving, seabed strolling, speed boat, motorboat, luxury yacht, sail boat, ocean fishing, beach sports and underwater photography.

Moreover, it has several shopping areas. The largest shopping center is Sanya-Ruihai Shopping Mall. Other malls include Dadonghai Pearl Square, Tropical Rain Forest Square, Seashore Lovers Road, and Seafood Barbecue Square. Near the tourism area, hotels of all kinds, including motels, youth hostels, economical hotels, and luxury hotels, welcome visitors. Many visitors to Sanya would live around Dadonghai for its short distance from the downtown area and the convenient transportation to other attractions in Sanya. About 2 miles (3.2km) to the northwest of the scenic area is the No. 1 Seafood Market, from which you can buy fresh and inexpensive seafood, and then ask restaurants to cook them. In the cool evenings, barbeques and song performances add to the pleasure of your trip.
 1. Take bus no. 2, 4, 8, 15, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, 34, 36, 53 or 55 to Dadonghai Square.
2. Sightseeing buses running between major attractions such as Yalong Bay, Dadonghai, Sanya Bay, Western Island Dock, and Tianya Haijiao depart every 30 minutes from 7:00 to 19:00.
3. Taxi from downtown Sanya to the scenic area costs about CNY 15, and sometimes you need to bargain with the driver.
