
Brief Introduction
Aeroflot-Russian International Airlines has witnessed the development of Russian airlines all the way from the early 1930s to the 21st century. As early as 1923 the Russian government began civil aviation operations with re-equipped warplanes. Decades later Aeroflot has developed into one of the 25 leading airlines in the world and the largest airline in Russia. In 2000 it was officially renamed Aeroflot-Russian International Airlines to better accord with the status of the national air carrier of the Russian Federation. To perform better Aeroflot puts flight safety and quality of service first and is trying hard to optimize its corporation structure and strengthen its financial positions. There are 302 flights daily to 96 destinations of 49 countries worldwide.
Hub
Aeroflot is one of the oldest airlines in the whole world, based on Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow, which is about 30 kilometers northwest of the city center. It has two terminals 10 kilometers far away from each other. Public buses, express buses and free regular buses are available to shuttle between them. There are also direct express trains from Terminal 2 of Sheremetyevo International Airport to Moscow Byturskaya Train Station. Terminal 3 is planned to be introduced in March, 2009 for all flights of Aeroflot and SkyTeam.

Aeroflot has more than 80 aircrafts in total. Aeroflot fleet is considered be the most modern in East Europe and grows every year due to the continually lowering average age of the aircrafts. As to the types of airplanes, there are Boening 767, Illyushin 96, Airbus 321, 320 and 319 as well as Tupolev 154.
