Korean Air

    Brief Introduction: 

    As a main partner of the Sky Team (one of the three international airline alliances, whose members also including Air France, Aeroflot, Northwest airlines), Korean Air is the representative of Korean airlines industry. The history of Korean Air can be traced back to 1948 when its predecessor, Korean National Airlines (KNA), was set up. In 1962, Korean National Airlines went bankrupt due to inefficient management and was taken over by Han Jin Group in 1969. In order to revitalize Korean Air, new Asian routes were started and a sizable sum of money was invested every year to improve its planes and services. After decades of endeavors by the staff, Korean Air now ranks among the top ten of all the airlines in the world in terms of service quality. Surveys and statistics have also shown that service by Korean Air has received wide praise.

    Aircraft types: Up to 2008, the avicade of Korean Air includes 4 Boeing 777-300s, 18 Boeing 777-200s, 23 Boeing 747-400Fs, 21 Boeing 747-400s, 16 Boeing 737-900s, 16 Boeing 737-800s, 16 Airbus A330-300s, 3 Airbus A330-200s and 10 A300-600R/-600Fs. Also, it has booked five Airbus A380s and ten Boeing 787s.

    Flights to/from China:
    Korean Air owned 101 passenger aircraft and 20 cargo aircraft as of Dec. 31, 2006. Its planes flew to 14 domestic cities and 87 cities in 32 countries as of April 30, 2006.     The logo of Korean Air learns from the Yin-yang principle used in South Korea national flag, adopts the unity of red and blue in Tai Chi pattern design. The main colors of the logo are red, blue and light blue. The unique combination of these three colors is to express dynamic feeling.

    With the Open Skies Agreement between South Korea and Canada coming into effect on July 15, 2009, Korean Air announced that from August 14, the flights KE073/074 from Toronto to Inchon will be available daily, which means two flights will be added respectively on Monday and Friday.

    Moreover, from July 27 to August 31, the number of the flights from Seattle to Inchon will be increased to 7 a week, and flights Inchon - San Francisco will be also increased as daily flight.

    Since July 1, 2009, Korean Air's flights to Tashkent and Cairo have been changed as below.
    KE953: available on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays
    Seoul(Incheon)-Tashkent, 13:15/16:40
    Tashkent-Cairo, 18:10/21:45 (Arrival time will be changed to 20:45 as of August 22, 2009.)

    KE954: available on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays

    Korea Airlines has opened the line from Seoul to Xi’an and also the line from Seoul to Mudanjiang (Heilongjiang Province) from this June. And the flights to Mudanjiang are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

    We visited Mudanjiang City in Heilongjiang Province at the end of last May. Korean Air resumed the service between Incheon and China's Mudanjiang City from May 17. It is a weekly flight service which operates on Saturdays.
