You can hire a car to get there, but the price is pretty high. A better way is to take a train from Taiyuan to Datong and then take a public bus to Hanging Temple. There is a train K732 23:47/ 05:29, takes about 6 hours, taking this train can save one night’s hotel accommodation, and you will also have enough time to visit the site.

Left luggage service available?
I and my family have a trip plan, and we will most of the time travel by bullet train starting at Pingyao and ending at Beijing. I plan to stop for one whole day at Taiyuan, and wonder if there is left-luggage service available at Taiyuan south Station. We will have 2 large size suitcases.

There is one at-1F and 2F. It says for small sized luggage, but it seems there are large suitcases too. It should be fine.

New type high speed train Xi'an to Taiyuan
We want to experience the fastest high speed train. Is D2506 and D2507 the fastest high speed train type?

This D2506 and D2507 are indeed faster than other rides but they are not the new high speed type which can reach a top speed of 350km/h. This new high speeds are not offered for this trip to Taiyuan, but other trips like Xi'an to Beijing and Shanghai to Beijing etc.

Changing trains at Taiyuan South station?
I would like to travel by rail from Pingyao to Xinxiang (Henan). A good option seems to be to take a D type from Pingyao County High-speed to Taiyuan South station, then from there take a G type to Xinxiang. The most convenient route for me includes 19 minutes for this change of rides. I know that at some high-speed stations (for example Zhengzhou East) there are special elevators to quickly transfer from the arrival platform to the departure area. So you just quickly show your onward ticket and ID, no need to queue for a long while, put luggage through security again etc. At such stations transfer only takes a few minutes. Do you know if Taiyuan South offers this possibility? Or do I have to go through the entire procedure as if my journey starts at Taiyuan South, in which case 19 minutes probably isn't enough time? Thanks!

There is transfer passage. You can go by stairs to the waiting room for the second trip. But you need to hurry up on the way as 19min did sounds limited.

Taiyuan South Railway Station (high speed) to Long-distance Wutaishan bus
Hi. After arriving in South station, what is the best way to get to the long-distance bus to Wutaishan (Taihuai)? Should we go to the main railway station or to the East Bus Station?

I read online that people usually use East bus center for the bus to Wutaishan.
