Anhui, with a population of over 59 million, is an inland province in Southeast China. It stretches over the Yangtze River and Huai River, and is adjacent to six provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, Henan and Shandong. Hefei City, the capital of the province, has many attractions as a result of its 2,000 years of history.
What to See
Covering an area of 130,000 square kilometers (50,200 square miles), Anhui boasts of abundant tourism resources, and is a top tourist attraction among many in the Southeast, such as: the amazing Mount Huangshan, famous for its towering pines, precipitous stones, wonderland cloud-sea and hot springs; Mount Jiuhua, one of the four famous Buddhist Mountains in China; Mount Tian Zhu, also a well-known scenic spot. The magnificence of these peaks is simply stupendous. Standing on top of any one of these peaks would overwhelm most trekkers with a sight to behold.
In addition to the beautiful mountain scenery, the well-preserved ancient villages in Southern Anhui are derived from the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368 - 1911). The most impressive ones are in Xidi and Hongcun in Yixian County near Mount Huangshan. It is really a sight worth seeing and a must for visitors who are keen to learn more about life during those years. Shexian County, reputed as Town of Arches, is also a must for each visitor who wants to experience fine examples of residential architecture from the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the unique Tangyue Memorial Archway.
When to Go
Anhui intrigues and astonishes tourists with its marvelous scenery and centuries-old cultural relics. Annual average temperature is between 14
C and 17
C. The best time to visit these scenic areas is in autumn (September, October, and November) and spring (April, May and June). However, the snow scenery of Huangshan is absolutely fascinating so if you enjoy the snow, it's best to come during the winter.
Anhui is also well known for its various craftworks, such as rice paper, ink stone and Chinese ink. Together, they form the precious Chinese four treasures of literary pursuits.

You can use China Souther Airlines from Manila to Xiamen and then make a connecting flight to Hefei, the capital city of Anhui. Contact the airlines to ask the ticket price of the certain day you are leaving and make an inquiry that if the connecting flight is cheaper. Or you can use Philippine Airline to Shanghai Pudong Airport and then transfer to Anhui.

You can depart from Kuala Lumpur to Anhui via Shenzhen and Guangzhou in Guangdong Province or Fuzhou in Fujian. Guangzhou is over 1200km from the capital city of Anhui, Hefei City, about 1400 from Shenzhen and Fuzhou is 1000km from Hefei. Suggest you make a connecting flight to Anhui from anyone of those three cities.

Silk Road is a very big concept, Mr. Sakb. There are many cities along the silk road, from Xian to Xinjiang. Which part do you mean?! Xian is the nearest. If traving by train, Xian is about 14 hours from the capital city of Anhui, Hefei.

Take airplane from Damascus to Shanghai Pudong via Amsterdam, Moscow or Paris. To which part of Anhui? If you are going to Huangshan Mountain, there is direct bus and train from Shanghai. If the capital city of the province, Hefei, you can take train (or flight)from Shanghai Railway Station. If take flight, you should get to Hongqiao Airport of Shanghai and get to Hefei airport one hour later. Shanghai Railway Station has D train to Hefei, which will get there in 3.5 hours. Recommend this.

Hello
i intend to visit Huangshan on 3oth Dec 09. Would there be snow then? After visiting this place, how do I go to Xidi, Hongun of Yixian county and then proceed to Shexian county (which town ?) for Archs by public transport. Thanks
Jul. 22,2009 22:45
Mr.Frank replied:
Usually, Mt. Huangshan will have snow in Dec., but sometimes there is rain, too. There is no direct bus from Huangshan to Xidi or Hongcun, so you have to take a bus to Yixian County from Huangshan firstly and then transfer to Xidi and Hongcun. The buses leave Mt. Huangshan at 08:00, 10:00, 13:40 and 16:00.
From Yixian to Shexian, you have to take bus from Yixian to Huangshan City firstly. The Tunxi Bus Station in Huangshan City has frequent buses to Shexian everyday. The Arch is located in Tangyue, where you have could hire a taxi to go from Shexian County.

I am going to Huangyan (Zhejiang) and from there I need to go to Chengbei Industrial Zone Huizhou distt, Anhui province. Kindly quide me about distance, means to go there with timing and expenses.
Jul. 2,2009 02:52
Mr.Shan replied:
It seems that there is no direct bus between them. So, I think you have to transfer at Hangzhou. Firstly, please take bus from Luqiao Bus Station or Huangyan Bus Station to reach Hangzhou East Bus Station or Hangzhou Coach Terminal (about 200kms &103RMB)
Secondly, please catch a bus at Hangzhou West Bus Station or Hangzhou Coach Terminal to Yansi Bus Station of Huizhou District. The fare is about 68RMB.
Finally, take a taxi to the industrial zone directly~
