What to See

| Xiamen, Fujian |
Mount Wuyi (Wu Yi Shan) may enlighten you with its wonderland tour. Its beautiful mountains, vigorous rocks and limpid waters are legendary. Gulangyu Island, also called "the Garden on the Sea" by people in Xiamen, is a world of sea breezes, sunshine and exotic architecture with a Mediterranean flavor. Nanputuo Temple, among the four well-known Buddhist shrines in the nation, has the longest and most prestigious history.
Earth Towers of the Hakkas in Yongding area are the much fabled mountain residences in this world of make believe. The industrious and facile Hui'an women in the south of Fujian add much to their folk customs. The Kaiyuan Temple looks splendid, glittering and grand despite its age. Fujian also is a place where famous national heroes like Lin Zexu and Zheng Chenggong lived and won their seats of honor in history books.
Oolong tea produced in Fujian is famous, so if you have a chance to visit this province, you must taste it there with relish.

Hello
We want to travel from Macau to Xiamen then to Suzhou. We dont mind stopping in between these places and prefer to travel by SEA/TRAIN/BUS. Can you please help to map a proper route to these places. thank you.

Ms.Cindy replied:
From Macau, you should get to Gongbei Border first. If you want to visit Zhuhai, you can find direct bus at the border terminal to Guangzhou. From Guangzhou, you can take train or bus to Xiamen. It takes 14 hours by train and nearly 9 hours by bus. From Xiamen , you can take train (21 hours) to Hangzhou. Get around Hangzhou and then take bus or train to Suzhou then, 3-4 hours.

I just got back from Fu'an, I have been there 4 times in 20 yrs. I do not agree with the other poster. It can be a nice place, my wife grew up there. The Fu'an Fair hotel is nice and reasonable price.

I will be traveling to Xiamen in a few weeks. Can someone guide me to the "hakka houses" closer to Xiamen than the ones in Yongding?
Alternately, is there a better way to make this roundtrip in one day than with the overpriced RMB900 per person group tours?

Mr.Danny replied:
You can get to Nanjing. It is 3 hours by bus from Hubin SOuth Bus Station and Songbai Bus Station of Xiamen. If you just visit this one, you can get back the same day. Go early in the morning. Last bus back to Xiamen is around 19:00.
