Guangzhou East Railway Station, named Tianhe Railway Station originally, is situated on the Linhe Zhong Lu, Tianhe District. It is opposite Zhongxin Plaza and the tallest building in Guangzhou. Built in 1910, it is 8 kilometers from Guangzhou Railway Station and 139 kilometers from Shenzhen Railway Station. It is a very important station on the Guangzhou – Shenzhen Railway. Also it is the terminal of Guangdong – Kowloon, Hong Kong Through Train. From Guangzhou to Hong Kong, the through train just takes you about two hours to reach Hung Hom Station in Hong Kong. Please note that before you get on the through train, you are required to go through the entry formalities at Guangzhou East Railway Station. 
Guangzhou East Railway Station
Guangzhou East Railway Station is made up of the plaza, the passenger transport building, the tower building and the station yard. The plaza in front of the passenger transport building is three-storied, including the overhead storey for pedestrians, the automobile storey and the underground storey. The passenger transport building covers an area of about 114,197 square meters, which is the main building of the railway station. It's a four-storied building. The first floor is the location for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen train ticket office, the Guangzhou-Kowloon train ticket office, the five Guangzhou-Shenzhen automatic ticket vendors, the waiting hall for Guangzhou-Shenzhen passengers, the luggage checking office for Guangzhou-Kowloon passengers and the luggage office for China mainland passengers. The central zone on the second floor is the hall for dispersing passengers. On its west is the ticket office for long-distance trains; on its east are five VIP rooms. On the third floor, the ticket office, Guangzhou-Kowloon passengers' pre-inspection waiting hall and the waiting hall for long-distance trains can be seen. On the fourth floor, its west part with an area of 9,742 square meters is the joint inspection hall and another zone with an area of 8,066 square meters is the China mainland passengers' waiting hall.

On the Bullet Train
Guangzhou-Shenzhen Bullet Trains (i.e. D trains)
Both Guangzhou Railway Station and Guangzhou East Railway Station provide the bullet trains from Guangzhou to Shenzhen. Each day, there are 27 bullet trains starting from Guangzhou Railway Station to go to Shenzhen. Compared with Guangzhou East Railway Station, the bullet trains from East Railway Station to Shenzhen outnumber the ones from Guangzhou Railway Station. At an interval of 10 to 20 minutes, there are 89 bullet trains starting from Guangzhou East Railway Station to go to Shenzhen each day. The first run is at 05:35 and the last run is at 22:50. The whole trip takes about 52 minutes. The ticket cost is around CNY100 for first-class soft seat and CNY95 for second-class soft seat. The trains pass Shilong, Dongguan and Zhangmutou.
How to get to Guangzhou East Railway Station
1. By Bus: Nos.180, 201, 210, 211, 228, 234, 254, 257, 269, 275, Night11, Night14, Night15, Night18, Night25
2. By Subway: Guangzhou East Railway Station can be reached by Subway Line 1 and 3.
3. By Airport Shuttle Bus: The Airport Shuttle Bus Line 6A departs from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to go to Guangzhou East Railway Station. The ticket fare is CNY20. The whole trip needs about 50 minutes.
4. By Taxi: It is about CNY80-100 from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport to Guangzhou East Railway Station by taxi, while the taxi fare is about CNY60-70 from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Guangzhou East Railway Station.
