Guangzhou Railway Station is one of the rail transportation hubs in China. The 'Guangzhou-Shenzhen', 'Beijing-Guangzhou' and 'Guangzhou-Sanshui' railways meet here. The old site of Guangzhou Railway Station was set up at Dashatou, which was the terminal of Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway. In 1951, it was moved to Baiyun Lu. In 1974, the new station was opened. At the very beginning, there are 35 couples of trains to go to or from it. In 1974, Guangzhou Railway Station was newly built on the Huanshi Xi Lu, northwest of Guangzhou. On April 4, 1979, the first through train between Guangzhou and Kowloon ran from Guangzhou Railway Station. Until 1998, the terminal of Guangzhou-Kowloon through train was changed to be Guangzhou East Railway Station in Tianhe District. At present, Guangzhou Railway Station provides the trips to Beijing, Zhuhai, Shenzhen, Maoming, Wuhan, Nanjing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hanzhong, Wenzhou, Xiangfan, Xian, and Lhasa and  many other Chinese mainland cities.

The Yuehai Railway passes through Guangzhou Railway Station, which connects Guangzhou with Sanya. This cross-sea railway brings much convenience to the tourists, who want to go from Guangzhou to Sanya by train. At present, there are three trains each day go from Guangzhou to Sanya, including Trains No.K512, T202 and K408.

The railway station can be reached easily by city buses. There are many wholesale markets near the Guangzhou Railway Station. The meeting place of the Canton Fair and Yuexiu Park are located to the south of the railway station. Only ten minutes will be spent to walk from the railway station to there. The Provincial Passenger Transport Station and Liuhua Bus Station are not far from the station. It is very convenient for the transfer passengers from Guangzhou to other cities by coaches.

 How to get to Guangzhou Railway Station
1. By Bus: Buses Nos.225, 228, 238, 256, 290, 30, 34, 530, 543, 545, 7, Night15, Night18, Night45
2. By Subway: Guangzhou Railway Station can be reached by Subway Line2 and 5.
3. By Airport Shuttle Bus: The Airport Shuttle Bus Line1 starts from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to CAAC Ticket Office. The ticket fare is CNY16. Upon arrival at the ticket office building, you can walk to the railway station.
4. By Taxi: Taxi fare would be about CNY90-100 from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport to Guangzhou Railway Station. It is about CNY50-60 from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Guangzhou Railway Station by taxi. Well, you should pay about CNY20-30 for the taxi from Guangzhou East Railway Station to Guangzhou Railway Station.

Ticket demand always exceeds supply when the Spring Festival and the other national holidays are coming.
