Guangzhou South Railway Station is located in Shibi Village, Zhongcun Town, Panyu District, about 17 kilometers away from downtown area. Firstly built in 1901, the current South Railway Station was rebuilt in 2004 and put into use again since 2010. It is designed to be one of the transportation hubs in the Pearl River Delta. At present, this station only operates high-speed trains running from the city to reach Wuhan and Changsha. In the future, it will be the original and terminal point of the high-speed railway line connecting the city with Shenzhen and Hong Kong, railway line to Foshan and railway line to Maoming. 
High-Speed Train at South Railway Station
Spread over an area of 486,000 square meters, the South Railway Station is the largest one of the existing four railway stations in Guangzhou. The railway station's terminal building consists of five floors, two of which is underground. The two underground floors have subway platforms and over 1,800 parking spaces. The first floor is the arrival hall of the Wuhan-Guangzhou trains and some other service centers, such as the immigration inspection hall and the flight connection hall. On the second floor, there are the trains' platforms and VIP waiting room. The third floor is the 71,722-square-meter waiting hall and the under construction commercial center.

Tickets
At the south and north end of the station's terminal building, there is one ticket hall for each. Passengers could purchase train tickets via the 36 ticket windows and 28 self-service ticket machines. The self-service machines only accept paper RMB currency of CNY5, CNY10, CNY20, CNY50 and CNY100.

By Subway:
Passengers can take subway Line 2 to reach the station directly.
By Taxi:
Passenger can find the taxi at the temporary passenger station of the South Railway Station. To reach the Railway Station in the city center, you should pay about CNY50-60 for the taxi fare. To East Railway Station, the taxi fee is about CNY60-70. There is also a special channel for passengers to take taxi to Foshan City directly. The taxi fare is about CNY120.
By City-Bus:
In downtown area of the city, there are five bus routes leaving for south railway station separately from Guangzhou Railway Station, East Railway Station, Zhanqian Lu, Tianhe Long-distance Bus Station, Jiaokou Long-distance Bus Station or Xihua Lu. While in Panyu District, there are seven buses leaving for this station separately from Yanzhou, Panyu Long-distance Station, Dagang, Nancun, Lanhe, Guangdong University of Technology or Hanxi Metro Station.

There are four Express Bus Lines leaving for here. People can take these buses at Guangzhou Long-distance Bus Station, Tianhe Exhibition Center, Dongpu Long-distance Bus Station or Jiangwan Hotel.

It is very convenient for passengers to take the direct buses from the nearby cities to South Railway Station. These nearby cities include Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Jiangmen, Foshan, Huizhou, Zhaoqiang and Macau.
