Guilin Weather in February

Guilin’s February is the transitional period from winter to spring and as such the weather is still a little bit cold, although the coldest month has gone. The weather is changeable, with great temperature fluctuations. Sometimes it is gloomy, but it will be nice once the sun is out. Most of the time it is cloudy and windy, with occasional drizzles.

Generally, it is the off-peak season, so special discounts are available for tourist attractions, hotels, restaurants and air travel, and out of season the city is less crowded. However, if the Chinese New Year takes place during this month, Guilin could be busier which means prices will rise considerably, and advance reservations are necessary. If it happens to be a warm winter, you will have a chance to enjoy the enchanting Li River in fog and drizzle.

What to Wear in Guilin in February

Guilin has a wet climate in February and it usually feels colder than the temperature shows, so it’s still advised to wear a thick cotton-padded coat or a think down coat and a thick woolen sweater when on outing. A wind-proof jacket is a good idea as are waterproof shoes or boots.

During the Chinese Spring Festival, the Dong ethnic group’s celebrations for the New Year are recommended. The water in the Li River is still low at this time, but hiking near the Xingping Town you could enjoy beautiful views. Hot springs are the seasonable places to go. There are also attractions that are not subject to the changes in the weather such as the Reed Flute Cave and Seven Star Park. The Impression Sanjie Liu is superb night show on the Li River all year round.

Guilin is suitable for travel all year round. You can visit Li River, Seven-Star Park, Elephant Trunk Hill, etc.

Do I need vaccinations to visit Guilin, China?

Generally, no vaccination is required. But if you are from yellow fever area, it is needed to hold the vaccine certificate of yellow fever.

Weather in Guilin in Feburary

Hello, we had been thinking of travelling to GL in February next year. However, the temperatures seem to range between 10 down to about 2 degrees Celsius. Should we defer our travel to later n the year?

It will be a little cold, with the temperature ranging from 3C to 19C in Feb. If you wanna see the best of GL, it is suggested to defer your trip to May.
