Getting There

By Air

Since there is no airport in Hengyang, the best air connection is from Changsha Huanghua International Airport or Zhangjiajie Hehua (Lotus) Airport.There are tour-express trains running between Hengyang and Zhangjiajie every day, so it is convenient to reach Zhangjiajie from Hengyang. Trains between Hengyang and Changsha also run regularly. Therefore, it is not difficult for tourists to travel by air.

In addition, tourists can take buses to Changsha or Zhangjiajie airport: First, board a bus at Hengyang Central Bus Station (the former Hengyang Western Bus Station) or Huaxin Bus Station in Hengyang City to reach Changsha South Distant Passenger Station or West Distant Passenger Station or Zhangjiajie Long-distance Bus Station and then take the shuttle busses at the two city centers to arrive at the airports.

By Train

Hengyang Railway Station is located in the Zhuhui District of Hengyang City. Every day there are trains to other big cities in China and to Zhangjiajie or Changsha in Hunan Province. Bus No. 1, 16, 18, Huancheng B Line will take you to the Hengyang Railway Station.

For your reference, the following timetable is for trains departing from Hengyang to some other big cities in China. However, you should check for the latest information on these trains, because it may change frequently.

By Long-Distance Bus

There are two long-distance bus stations in Hengyang City. One is Hengyang Central Bus Station (the former Hengyang Western Bus Station) located in Jiefang Road (west). There are buses running to other cities within Hunan Province such as Changsha, Xiangtan, Zhuzhou, Shaoyang, Yongzhou. Moreover, there are buses to reach Guangxi Province including Guilin, and Guangdong Province including Shenzhen, Huidong, Zhongshan. From the city center take bus No.1, 101, 104, 14, 19, 21, 22, 28, 303, 31, 8, K1, K39, Huancheng A Line, Huancheng B Line and you will arrive at this station.

The other station is Huaxin Bus Station located in the suburban area of Huaxin Development Zone, Hengyang City. This station is the largest and the most modern passenger bus station in the southern Hunan area. Buses No.19, 101, 104 and K1 in the city center will take you there. The buses in this station are mostly to Hengyang's surrounding cities and counties such as Shaoyang, Qidong, Yongzhou.

Getting Around

By City-Bus

There are more than 40 bus lines in Hengyang City covering most of the main buildings and avenues within Hengyang. Most of the buses run from about 06:30 to 19:30. However, buses No.9, 25, 28 operate until 21:00 and even bus K1 will operate for 24 hours for night owls. The bus fare for K1 is CNY2 while the bus fare of other lines is CNY1. The following bus lines pass through many main arteries of traffic and may help you:

Bus No.1 passes by the following stations: Western Bus Station, The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanhua University, Central Hospital, Guangdong Crossing, and Hengyang Railway Station

Bus K1 passes by the following stations: Huaxin Bus Station, Ecological Park, Hongxiang Crossing, Western Bus Station, Lianhu Square, Yancheng Hotel, The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanhua University, Central Hospital, Yanfeng Park, Guangdong Crossing, Hengyang Railway Station

Bus No.16 passes by the following stations: Shigu Square, Xinquan Hotel, Hengnan People's Hospital, Longquan Shopping Mall, Jinguo Crossing, Central Hospital, Yanfeng Park, Guangdong Crossing, and Hengyang Railway Station

Huancheng B passes by the following stations: Guangdong Crossing, Daqing Crossing, Western Bus Station, Nanhua University, The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanhua University, and Hengyang Railway Station

By Taxi

In Hengyang City, it is convenient to travel by taxi and you can stop one at any time by waving your hands. The base price is CNY5 or 6 (depending on the taxi style) for the beginning two kilometers (1.24 miles). Every additional kilometer costs CNY1.6. It is very cheap to take a taxi. For example, from the railway station to anywhere in the city it costs no more than CNY20.
