Dear all, we must travel from Pudong airport to Hotel Sheraton Daning in 1928 Gong He Xin Road. We will use the Maglev train first but do not know, which subway line we should use after that and what is the closes station to the hotel. Who can help us?
Thanks a lot and best regards from Germany

Oct. 9,2009 21:48
Mr.Frankie replied:

Only subway Line 2 is connected with the Maglev. So, when you get off the Maglev train, please take the subway Line 2 to reach the People's Square firstly. Here, please transfer to subway Line 1 and finally get off at Yanchang Road. Take the Exit 4, you could walk northwards to the hotel in 5 minutes.

I will be staying at Somerset Xu Hui Shanghai for my next visit and this site tells me that I can take Airport Line 3 to Xujiahui. However it does not state which part of Xujiahui does the bus stops. I will like to know if the stop at Xujiahui is anywhere near Somerset Xu Hui, or if I need to take a taxi, how far would that be?
Thanks

Oct. 9,2009 21:41
Mr.Shan replied:

The bus stop is just located at the Xujiahui Station of Shanghai subway Line 1, which is about 3kms from the Somerset Xuhui. It will take you no more than 10 minutes to reach there by taxi.

Shanghai Railway Bureau has adjusted the pre-sale period of train tickets since September 21. Passengers can buy tickets 11 days ahead of departure instead of 10 days. The presale period of tickets of direct “Z” trains and Multiple Unit Trains (prefixed with-D) remain 20 days. Additionally, Shanghai Railway Station also restricted the number of tickets that each person can buy for trains departing on September 29—October 1. One person can purchase at most five tickets with the departure date signed as Sept 20-Oct.1.

Dear all,

I need help in how to reach my hotel, Shanghai Railway Hotel, No.160 Guizhou Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai, at the fastest and cheapest way from Pudong International Airport. Will be arriving around 3pm.

And how much is the taxi fare from that hotel to Pudong Airport and how long does it take to reach? Thank you very much!

Sep. 14,2009 23:22
Mr.James replied:

It costs about 130RMB for 50 minutes from the hotel to Pudong airport. Ways from the airport to the hotel:
Take ariport bus to Jing'an Temple then take a taxi to the hotel. The fare is 22RMB 15RMB
Or take airport bus to Longyang Road, then change to Subway Line 2 to People's Square, then walk to the hotel (within l km). The fare: 16RMB 4RMB

Sep. 15,2009 02:24
Ms.Kitty(Singapore) replied:

Thanks for the info Mr James, but will it be faster to take Maglev to Longyang Rd station? Though I know it's expensive at 40-50RMB. Thanks!

Sep. 15,2009 03:43
Mr.James replied:

Yes,maglev train is faster. It need no more than 10 minutes from the airport to Longyang Road and there is one train every 15 minutes. It is a nice experience to take maglev train, anyway.

Sep. 15,2009 03:27
Ms.Kitty(Singapore) replied:

Mr.James, how much is the airport bus to Jing'an Temple and how much is the taxi to hotel from Jing'an Temple. Also, which one is the fastest way because I can't wait to start shopping right away after check-in!

Sep. 18,2009 21:48
Ms.Heather replied:

Suggest you to take the shuttle bus because you have to transfer which needs time if you take the Maglev. The shuttle bus fare is CNY22 and the taxi from Jing'an Temple to the hotel is around CNY15. Seems Mr.James has given you the accurate cost above.

The pier is far from the airport bus or maglev, so you'd better take a taxi to the airport directly. The fare is around 150RMB/cab.

I plan to visit Shanghai in Oct. 2009. And then traveling between Ningbo back forth for a few days. Which would be the best way to do that? Bus, Train or Taxi. Is there a personal driver for hire? How about Car rental? This will be my first trip to China.

Please suggest. Thank you

Charlie H. Lim

Jul. 19,2009 23:12
Mr.James replied:

It is about 4 hours on the way back and forth between Shanghai and Ningbo, so taxi is the not a good idea. Trains and buses are easy to be found at Shanghai railway stations and Shanghai South Bus Station. The railway stations can be easily reached by subway which is convenient and fast. It should be around 600 from Shanghai to Ningbo by taxi. The rental of a car with a driver should be more expensive. Suggest you go by train or bus.

Yes, it is GSM network both in Shanghai and Wuxi. The two large provider is China Mobile and China Unicom. You could purchase a cell phone sim card easily at these stores everywhere. Usually the card is free if you prepaid some bills.
