You can consider to visit Shanghai for two days and buy ticket to Suzhou when you just arrive Shanghai. The same way to buy tickets in other places. In fact, you will just buy ticket from Shanghai to Suzhou and Hangzhou to Shanghai. You can buy the ticket for both in Shanghai in advance. 1. are there speed trains to and fro? How much and which station to buy tickets? Can buy online?
2. any recommendation for accomodation in Hangzhou? Budget RMB 250 per room?
3. Are we able to leave some of our baggage at the Pudong Airport, we are transiting Shanghai from New York back to Singapore? YOu can imagine how many items we would have? how much are the storage? safe?
Oct. 6,2009 03:46 Mr.Jamie replied:
There are nearly 80 trains every day from Shanghai to Hangzhou. No need to book online, indeed I never try this. Usually, service fee is much higher if buy through online ticket agent. Speed trains are D trains and they can take you to Hangzhou 1.5 hour later. Shanghai South Railway Station and Shanghai Railway Station both has such trains, South Ralway Station has more train. Ticket fare is 52/62RMB for D trains. Other trains will be much cheaper.
Hope this can help you with the hotel problem: www.travelchinaguide.com/hotel/hangzhou-hotels.htm
Generally, it is no problem to save luggage there, or you can ask the hotel inside the terminal about similar service. I just know the you can find the luggage room at 3F, International DEparture Hall, (nearby check-in counters area A). It is charges according to the luggage size. Around 50/case on day. You should consider the cost for 48 hours.

Mr.Hank replied:
Please consider the Jinjiang Inn, which is no more than 1.5kms from the railway station. The hotel is clean and the staffs are kind~ You could refer to its introduction at http://www.travelchinaguide.com/hotel/south-shanghai-railway.htm

Everyday, there are frequent trains running between Shanghai and Jinhua. The fastest one just takes about 3 hours. Well, you could search the train schedule in details at http://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/

Hi!
We want to travel from Shanghai to Hangzhou for 2 days...by train.
1. are there speed trains to and fro? How much and which station to buy tickets? Can buy online?
2. any recommendation for accomodation in Hangzhou? Budget RMB 250 per room?
3. Are we able to leave some of our baggage at the Pudong Airport, we are transiting Shanghai from New York back to Singapore? YOu can imagine how many items we would have? how much are the storage? safe?

Mr.Jamie replied:
There are nearly 80 trains every day from Shanghai to Hangzhou. No need to book online, indeed I never try this. Usually, service fee is much higher if buy through online ticket agent. Speed trains are D trains and they can take you to Hangzhou 1.5 hour later. Shanghai South Railway Station and Shanghai Railway Station both has such trains, South Ralway Station has more train. Ticket fare is 52/62RMB for D trains. Other trains will be much cheaper.
Hope this can help you with the hotel problem:

Generally, it is no problem to save luggage there, or you can ask the hotel inside the terminal about similar service. I just know the you can find the luggage room at 3F, International DEparture Hall, (nearby check-in counters area A). It is charges according to the luggage size. Around 50/case on day. You should consider the cost for 48 hours.
