I visit a Buddhist Temple within the city of Nanchang with a friend yesterday. We took a cab from Nanchang University, but I don't know the name of it and would like to find pictures and other information about the temple that I visited.
My friend said there was no direct Chinese/English translation.

Hello Mr. Bevin: This is Cathy in the United States. My daughter was born in Linchuan, in JiangXi Province. I adopted her in 1996. My entire family (husband, 2 children) plan to return to China this summer and want to spend time in LinChuan because my daughter's foster family lives there. Can you recommend a hotel in Linchuan with Western style features (especially Western bathrooms). How much would such a place cost to stay there a week. Also, we will need a driver and translator...how does one hire people to drive and translate back and forth into English for us. Thank you for any ideas.

My Chinese girlfriend lives in Nanchang city, and I have visited here twice and am due to go for the 2009 Spring festival celebrations. The city is a mix or old and new. By visiting Nanchang, you experience the REAL China, not the tourist China. You will see the good and the bad, the modern and the old. The most important, you meet the most wonderful Chinese characters - the real people of China. I love it. Oh, I love my Chinese girlfriend as well!!!
Make sure to ask her for marriage. My wife was raised in Nanchang and they are a beautiful gift from Heaven for me. I am proud to say Angels walk this earth. My wife had a son of 6 when I met here there and he is 14 now and a good student. She worked for the Post & Telecommunication company of Jiangxi Province and owned her own home at 46 years of age. She still looks as if she is a young girl of 20 still and she is 45 and is 5 2 and weighs still 100 now. I have the most loveliest of all the woman I have ever seen in China even after extensive travels with her and the boy and I am proud to say she will become an American citizen next year and we are married living in the west coast of central Florida since our marriage in July 11 2003. I never could have found a more beautiful family in all my greatest good fortune.
Jan. 8,2009 09:54 Mr.Bowman(England) replied:
Thank you Mr Cauchon for your reply. I can assure you marriage is imminent. I totally agree with you that Chinese woman are beautiful, and yes their dark brown eyes are mesmerising! Ying bought her house when she was 25 - she is now 35 - when she worked as a tv reporter for the local tv station. She has a 10 year old boy. i will be with them in less than 2 weeeks for the new year celebrations - but find it harder and harder to leave them to return to England. A tip for visitors to China - visit places off the tourist trail, that way you will meet some fantastic people, and might even find that perfect Chinese girl of your dreams, like myself and Mr Cauchon have.

Nanchang City is part of my soul after visiting in 2002 for 3 months. I took the first born of four children from a womnderful ancient family name and have an Angel for a wife. She is traditional in the strongest sense and it is very difficult to understand her ways but she is as lovely as a wondrous flower for this old American boy. I have seen the ALL of Nanchang and the woman are gifts from heaven for the most part that I know. My wife has the BEAUTIFUL EYES so she is truly a special one for a Chinese Woman! The city is a wondrous place and I have made many friends from college dean of English, to the PLA Army hospital staff from different trips and tours I have taken traveling with Nanchang People. They are honorable, decent, love their children, and are all a very special breed of Chinese with high quality cooking and decency as well. I would marry my wife again many times over if she would allow. I bought her a lovely Qipao last summer shopping one day this past summer and can not wait till we return again to visit our wonderful family & friends we made there. If someone told me suchas my wife we had to move to Nanchang, I would be out of Florida tomorrow AM! I shall never forget the city and it is and will ALWAYS BE part of my soul. All I can say for closing is the country of China is a wondrous and gift to mankind and never ever believe any of the bad stories we see in the press about how terrible it is. You can find lovely people everywhere in the entire country without trying very hard at all. Zhong Gua, Shea Shea nv for being what you are!rc

I found Nanchang to be a city in two parts really as it is divided by the river, the old city and CBD on one side and a "new city" on the other side. I stayed in a private home for four weeks in the new city which I found very impressive. Wonderfully modern buildings with much high rise accomodation. Many of the buildings are not completely occupied and many still under constuction. I lived in a two level appartment at the top of a 16 story block in a secure complex of about 8 buildings with a 40 story hotel and secure underground car park. The interior of the apartment was tasefully decorated and with all modern appliences. I went into the old city often for shopping at Walmart but found the Metro shopping centre better for european food; bacon, cheese, biscuits etc. The famous Pavillion is well worth a visit. I also enjoyed the area around the lake but preferred to go across the river to the new city to walk along the "promenade" which has fantastic fountains...go on sunday evening to view with lights and music...its wonderful. I did drive my friends car while I was there but you do need eight sets of eyes to see everything that is going on around you. There are no road rules. Pedestrians cross the roads anytime without watching, motorcycles go the wrong way in one-way systems and so do cars sometimes. Traffic lights are often ignored, four or five vehicles squeeze into two or three lanes and lane markings are a waste of paint. Taxies are in a constant race to get past anything in front of them and just push sideways whenever they want to. Busses often indicate right and turn left. I found the safest way to get along was to follow a bus about one meter behind (any more space and a taxi will push in). The people are friendly and the food in the small sidewalk restaurants is nourishing and cheap...you often don't know what you are eating but it is cheap. A worthwhile trip for the day is to LU Shan mountain. Beautiful scenery.Hot Spring, Cable Car, River boat trip.
Mr Scott, sounds like you had a great trip. I'd like to visit the city too, but I would like to know what is the best way to get to Nanchang. Did you take a train from another city or you flew in directly?
