I am an international student that will be studying at Nanjing University for a year. I fly into Shanghai on Thursday at 2:00 PM. I would like to take the Bullet Train to Nanjing. What is the best/easiest way to get to the train station from the Shanghai Airport? If by bus, what is the bus number and where do I find it? Can I just purchase my tickets for the train to Nanjing at the Train station in Shanghai and where would I purchase the bus ticket? Also, when I arrive in Nanjing what is the best/easiest way to get to Nanjing University? I have a dorm room reservation set up for that night.
Thank you for your assistance!!

Mr.very(cn) replied:

Hi, airport shuttle line 5 can take you to railway station. The bus starts from the airport. If you can not find the pick-up point, ask the staff in the airport. There are many signs in the airport to instruct you to the shuttle bus also. The ticket is brought when you get on the bus. When you reach the railway station, buy the ticket to nanjing in the tickets counter.
When you get to nanjing. Take subway line1 at nanjing railway station and get off zhujiang road, you will see your university. Or, bus 28 and 33 can also take you there (get off at zhujiang road). But i think the subway is the most fast and convinient way!

Aug. 23,2009 20:49
Mr.jolin(cn) replied:

I think it is might be a problem as it is national holiday then, quite difficult to get a tickets. By the way the soft sleeper is so much cheaper than the discount air tickets. I recommended you to book an air ticket now, you may have more discount. Good luck!

Should I open a bank account in Nanjing so I have cash readily available without having to pay ATM fees everytime I use my ATM card from a US bank? What is the best way to go about opening a bank account in China, can I do it before I leave the US or is there a better solution to avoid ATM fees while in China for the year? Hi every body!

Please How can i get to Nanjing University of Aeronautics and astronautics from Guangzhou airport using the most economical route. arrival date 10th Sept. The total travel distances will appreciated.

Aug. 15,2009 22:49
Mr.Johnson replied:

Get to Nanjing from Guangzhou by air or train. If by train, it will take over 24 hour and the ticket price is about 420RMB for hard sleeper and about 650RMB for soft sleeper. You can contact the air ticket office or agency about the ticket price at the day you are leaving. As the data shows recently, the air ticket price is even cheaper then the soft sleeper train ticket and a bit expensive then hard sleeper. For, it needs only 2 hours by air. I do not know which compus do you want to go. If the Jiangjun Road compus, it is not far away from the airport, where you can go by taxi. If the Jiangning Compus, you should take airport bus to Zhonghuamen Bus Station, then change to a taxi.
