Please purchase the train ticket at least one day in advance. When you arrive in Hangzhou, please hire a cab driving you to the West Lake. Well, it is suggested that you stay one night in Hangzhou and then leave for Suzhou the next morning. So, you will have more time to enjoy this city's beauties.
On the next morning, please hire a cab driving you to Hangzhou East Bus Station or Hangzhou North Bus Station, where you could catch a coach to reach Suzhou in 2.5 hours. Hi, we are planning to visit Suzhou, Hangzhou, Huangshan and Yixian (Xidi and Hongcun villages) at the end of Nov. Our flight arrive & depart via Hangzhou. Is it better to visit Huangshan and Yixian first before visiting Suzhou? What would be the best way to get to Suzhou? Is there a train or bus from Hangzhou to Suzhou? Or by train/bus from Tunxi/Tangkou to Suzhou? What is the best way in transportation mode to do the route? Thanks for your suggestions.
Aug. 29,2009 01:16 Mr.Hang replied:
Both are okay that you could go to Suzhou once arriving in Hangzhou or after you visit Huangshan. Not suggest that you take bus from Suzhou to Huangshan, since there is only two buses everyday. One situation for example, your route should be Hangzhou->Suzhou->Hangzhou->Huangshan->yixian->Hangzhou
Buses between Hangzhou and Suzhou are very conveniently. You could take a bus from Hangzhou East Bus Station and will arrive in Suzhou in 2 hours.

Mr.Shan replied:
Suggested that u to take the speed trains which are very convenient for shuttling betweem Suzhou and Shanghai. Please note that you'd better purchase the return ticket in Shanghai in advance, especially during weekend.

Aug. 29,2009 01:16
Mr.Hang replied:
Both are okay that you could go to Suzhou once arriving in Hangzhou or after you visit Huangshan. Not suggest that you take bus from Suzhou to Huangshan, since there is only two buses everyday. One situation for example, your route should be Hangzhou->Suzhou->Hangzhou->Huangshan->yixian->Hangzhou
Buses between Hangzhou and Suzhou are very conveniently. You could take a bus from Hangzhou East Bus Station and will arrive in Suzhou in 2 hours.

Thank you, Mr. Hang. Yes, I think the route you suggested is best. What is the best way to go from Huangshan to Yixian and back to Hangzhou? By bus? How frequent? Convenient? Thank you very much.

Ms.Jasmine replied:

The earliest bus is 6:20, it may need 70--80 minutes to get to zhangjiaguang. Thus if you can catch the earliest bus in the morning, it is possible to get there before 8 in the morning!

Jul. 27,2009 20:40

You may go to some ancient towns around these cities. For example, Zhouzhuang close to Suzhou, Wuzhen and Cixi close to Hangzhou. Why not do search these three cities' attraction one by one to get a good idea?

Thank you for this information, it has all helped greatly :) i'm looking forward to the trip (even though it is only for one week including travel) i am hoping to gain a huge experience out of this as i love the chinese culture and wish to learn more through experiencing it. my boyfriend wants to take me there and spend between 3 - 6 months out there after he has done army training and i have finished my college course. we will be bringing his little 3 year old boy and it will be nice to know at least a few places for us to visit. one of the people i work with is from Beijing and has offered to teach me some of the Mandarin and Cantonese language so i can ask people things when we get out there. she has even offered me a place to stay when i visit with my boyfriend and his son. i absolutely can not wait till March. thank you :)
