Haven't found any restaurant which keep the traditional Manchu food well besides of the Na's Restaurant in Beijing. But, the current Dongbei food was inspired from the Manchu food. Most of the Manchu flavor is well kept. So,you could find a good restaurant cooking Dongbei cuisine or dumpling in Shenyang. The exact same trip back, same roads but less traffic the meter read 104RMB. I was too slow to get the taxi drivers reg. but I did get the car reg. of LA M8228. I currently live in Shenyang, I work for Rolls-Royce and come from England. Shenyang is an old industrial city but only one hour flight to Beijing. There are a number of western type places near the American Embassy. Weather is mied from Hopt to very cold.

Shenyang has relatively few foreigners, and even less native English speakers. If you speak Korean, you can get by with more ease as there is a large Korean minority which has its own district with Korean restaurants, businesses, etc. Otherwise, it is very difficult to get by without any Mandarin language skills. Your best chance for help is to go to Liaoning University, old campus. There is an international student study building with a "Scholar Cafe" staffed by Chinese who speak foreign languages. If you ask them, they can introduce you to many Chinese university students who are eager to practice their English and who can give you a hand getting around.
