One of the best attractions in Shanghai and a must visit for a tourist even if he's visting for a day. What makes it the best and most sought after tourist spot in whole of CHINA is its museum in the basement. Not many people know about it, however, it displays transformation of Shanghai from its early farming days to one of the most modern cities in the world. The art and literature combined together in the museum is a testament of dedication with which the museum has been built with. I recommend any one irrespective of age to be there. Climbing height iof the tower may not be exciting alone.

Admission fee is much higher - 150RMB for full ticket (February 2009)! But it is still worth visiting! The Municipal Museum is not bad either (35RMB without visiting The Perl Tower and for free if you buy full ticket)! The best time for visiting is 30 min or an hour before sunset so you can enjoy the day and night Shanghai at a time! I visited Jin Mao Tower and The Pearl this winter and there were smth in each of the visits despite their location (few hundred meters from one to another)!
