Hi, when will you come to Beijing? If you come here after this 28th, you could take the subway Line 4 from Beijing South Railway Station to the Summer Palace directly. The express train from Tianjin to Beijing will stop at Beijing South Railway Statoin.

Hi, i am visiting Beijing from 18 to 23 Sep 09, will be staying at Novotel Peace near Wanfujing street. Besides taking taxi, what is the easiest way to get to Great Wall, Summer Palace, Heaven Temple, Tiananmen, Forbidden City?

I understand that each place is very big, which is the best gate/way to walk to tour each place.

I am also worry to catch taxi from the various places back to my hotel, will it be difficult? What do I need to take note? Thank you.

Sep. 10,2009 01:58
Mr.Shan replied:

If you make a good travel plan, there is almost no need to take a taxi. You hotel is very close to the Dengshikou Station of Beijing subway Line 5, which you could mainly depend on. The price is CNY2 regardless the distance and transfers between lines in Beijing.

To Great Wall: please take the subway Line 5 and then transfer to Line 2 at Yonghegong Station. Finally get off at Jishuitan Station. Exit following the signs to Deshengmen, you could take the bus 919快 to the Badaling Great Wall with a fare of 12RMB.

To Summer Palace: take Line 5 and then transfer to Line 2 at Chongwenmen Station. Finally get off at Qianmen Station and go out from Exit A, you could catch the bus 808 to the park directly.

Or, take Line 5 and then transfer to Line 10 at Huixinxijienankou. Get off at Haidianhuangzhuang, you will find many buses to the Summer Palace.

To Temple of Heaven: take Line 5 and get off at the Temple of Heaven.

To: Tiananmen and Forbidden City: take Line 5 and then transfer to Line 1 at Dongdan. Get off at Tiananmen Dong, you could find them promptly.

Well, I think you could refer to the Beijing Subway at http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/beijing/transportation/subway.htm

hello,
i would appreciate it if someone can let me know which is the shortest distance to take bus to summer palace (yiheyuan).
i know of 2 station, Qianmen station - bus no 808, 826..drop at East Gate, another is XiZimen station, bus no 375.drop at north gate. I am not sure which station is the shortest way to get to summer palace. May I know how long is the bus journey ?thanks.

Sep. 5,2009 02:42
Mr.Shan replied:

Of course the journey is shorter from Xizhimen, just 30 minutes is needed. If you take 808, the bus wiil pass by Xizhimen. And, the final terminal from downtown area is the north gate of the Summer Palace. So, you could visit from the north gate and exit from the east gate. Walk along the road's right side in front of the the east gate, you will find the bus station where 808 is needed.

Near this hotel, you can find the Chongwenmen subway station. You can take the subway to get to Jishuitan subway stop. The ticket costs CNY2. After you arrive at Jishuitan subway stop, just walk eastwards for several hundred meters and you can see the Deshengmen 919 Bus Station.

Jun. 14,2009 23:13
Ms.Cindy replied:

Beijing Railway Station to Beijing Capital International Airport: Airport Bus Line 3 departing every 15 minutes.
T3 to hotel: You can take Bus 359 or Airport line 1 to Dongzhimen and then take a taxi to the hotel, which is not far away from there. airport bus (16RMB) is faster but city bus (2RMB)is much cheaper.

Hi,Here is my answer, hope it helps you:
1. You can take Bus 810 to the north gate of the Forbbiden City, if you want to the ticket office, you should make a transfer at Tian'anmen West or East. Not far away from the Tian'anmen Square.
2. Get to Beijing NOrth Railway Station first and take the Yanqing Suburb railway to Badaling. Take 810 at the hotel to Xisanqiao or Qinghe, then change to Bus 919 to Juyongguan Great Wall.
3. Walk to Yong'anLi or Guomao Subway Stations near the hotel and take subway Line 1 to Tian'anmen East. By Bus: get to Dabeiyao West Bus station to catch 4, 1, 802, 37 to the square
4. Take Bus 1, 4 to Gongzhufen East and change to 394 at Gongzhufen North to Summer Palace. Or take 810 to Tieshizifen then change to 331 to the destination.
5. Take subway Line 1 to Dongdan and change to Subway Line 5 to the East gate of Temple of Heaven.

Experience to be shared with visitors going to Beijing for the first time: find the realy tourist buses at their stops. Fares of these busees are exclude tickets of scenic spots. NO tour guide. You can just take the bus to the spot, and the driver will tell you the time to go back. The round trip ticket is about 40-80 and it is more expensive for buses with air conditioner.
