how do I go to Overseas Chinese Town (ie Knight Valley etc...) from Window of the World
and how much it costs. Can I get a Chinese visa from the Luohu border and how much it
costs ? Thank you !

Sep. 1,2009 21:08
Mr.Andrew replied:

One stop by Subway Line 1. Of course, you can get a taxi. The flag down rate is enough. You can get a on-arrival visa at Luohu when you enter Shenzhen from Hong Kong. The cost is about 150HKD. I have no idea if it is easy to have one recently. You had better apply for it in advance.

Well, seldom taxi in Shenzhen or HK could take you shuttling between these two cities directly, unless the cab has two licenses both of HK and Shenzhen. So, you have to transfer to another taxi either in Hong Kong or in Shenzhen out of the custom port. Actually, it is easy to hail a cab~

Is there a sightseeing bus that allows you to see Shenzen and Shekou in one day? As my husband will be working, I will travel around by myself all day long: is it safe?

May. 24,2009 03:05
Mr.Jerry replied:

There are two sightseeing lines mainly shuttling among the most prosperious area in the center of Shenzhen. For Shekou, do you mean the port or somewhere else?!

May. 27,2009 07:29
Mrs.Milena(Italy) replied:

Thank you for your reply Mr. Jerry!Well, It's quite difficult to say as I don't know the place at all. The problem is the we have to move to Shenzen and we have been told that The Shekou area is nice and full of expat and international schools, therefore, as I have very little time, I was interested in a sightseeing bus to get an overall idea so that then I can choose what to see better

May. 31,2009 01:33
Mr.Shan replied:

Hello Milena, Shekou is just a small area of the Nanshan District of Shenzhen City. Yes, this area is full of exotic flavor and the most travel essence of Shenzhen are located here. You could take a city-bus or a taxi to the Splendid China & Folk Culture Village,or the Window of the World easily. Out of these parks, you could find the Happy Line which is an overhead monorail passing through the above parks, the Happy Valley and giving you a good view of the Shenzhen Bay in 25 minutes. The fare is 40yuan per adult.

hello, out of the Luohu Port, I think you could take the subway to its terminus at the Window of the World which is a must of Shenzhen. Then, you could go to the nearby Splendid China & Folk Culture Village, or take the subway back to Huaqiang Lu for electronical products or the Laojie Station where the famous Dongmen Shopping Street is located. Hello!

I had a question about Shenzhen transport. My husband may be teaching English in Shenzhen but we are unsure of the location. I want to take mandarin classes at Shenzhen University. If he is placed in an area of Shenzhen that is farthest away from the University will it still be relatively easy to travel back and forth (under one hour)? Are the buses and trains within Shenzhen convenient and reliable? Thank you!!

May. 6,2009 22:26
Ms.Lucy replied:

Well, you'd better have a place not very fare from the university, if not, the travel time must be over 2 hours. The city is relatively safe, but don't go out very late at night.

Is the east railroad station the same as the kowloon tong railroad,? is there an airport shuttle that takes you straight to the kowloon railroad or do you have to get off somewhere to catch another shuttle before you get to kowloon railroad, now once you get on the train going to shenzhen would need to get a visa before boarding the train bound for shenzhen i am an american with an american passport and is flying to hongkong on may 16,

Apr. 22,2009 03:18
Ms.Meng replied:

Puzzled by your words of east railrod station~ The Hong Kong MTR has a line called East Rail Line that take passengers from the HK downtown area to Luohu-the border of HK and Shenzhen. Kowloon Tong is a station of this line.

From HK Airport to Kowloon, the fastest method should be taking the Airport Express. No transfer is needed.

No visa is needed when you board on the train. The train depart from HK just could lead you to the Customs Port between HK and Shenzhen. Passing through the port on foot, you should take bus or others to traveling in Shenzhen. Your valid visa to entering Shenzhen should be claimed at the port. Aim at short visit. travelers could apply for a 5-day's Shenzhen Visa on arrival the port. But, this visa is only valid in the Special Zone of Shenzhen, not the whole city.
