I just came back from Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and it is definitely worth every effort and minute of it. There are little snow now, but there is a walkway and you can walk to the top. The views are mesmerizing and beautiful, and the experince and cable car ride is unforgetable.
Near the cable car station, you can watch the 'Impression Lijiang' (http://www.yx-lj.com), the show produced by Zhang Yimou, internationally acclaimed Chinese filmmaker and former cinematographer and director of Opening and Closing Ceremonies of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, alongside with co-director and choreographer Zhang Jigang. Simply awesome.
Do note the cable stops above 4500 metres and for those less adaptable, there may be mountain sickness systoms. Oxygen can be purchased to allow for more adaptability.
It is hard to move around in wheel chair, as there are many staircases.

Mr. KG,
Did you watch "Impression Lijiang" in May? Did you have to wear down jacket at the performance site? I know the weather varies in Jade Dragon Mt. depending on the elevation. We are going to watch the show on June 6 and we don't plan to climb higher. Will down jacket be necessary at the performance site? I saw the clips of the show on utube, people were in summer clothes, so apparantly summer exists at the show site.

Will it be nice to see in summer?

You may not see the snow in the mountain if going on summer, but Lijiang is a great summer resort. Still have to keep warm when you climb the mountain.

I just came back from a trip I took up the mountain in April. There was still plenty of snow up at the top and an INCREDIBLE view. You will not be disappointed. If you go up to the very top using the cable cars, people will try to sell you oxygen cans. You may seriously want to take them; the air was very thin and, although my friends and I are very fit and all just University Students, it was a bit tricky going up the steps and we had to take quite a few breaks. Anyway. have a great trip!

I was there a few weeks ago and there was still snow. Not as much as in the pictures as above, but still definitely worth the trip. The best natural wonder I've ever seen. The entry fee is now CNY 160 for the Yulong Glazier Cable ride to the peak, but definitely worth it. There are also two other cable car options, one to "Spruce Meadow" at 2941m (CNY 65) and another to "Yak Meadow" at 3280m (CNY 70).

Dear Ms. Lily, unfortunately there is only a small lift cabin for 4 persons available and sorry to say "no wheel chair will fit into that small cabin".This was the situation 7 years ago. I don#t know actual details.
