Been there in januari 2009
Very impressive ( just me in the very large hall with warriors)
I think they should leave the tomb of the 'first emperor' as is .

And leave whats inside to our imagination.
I wouldn't like them to dig up my grave or my parents graves....

updated to what i said the warriors were originally coated with polychrome--a material consisting of a lacquer base topped by a layer of pigment.Because water-saturated soil at the site has altered the lacquer. Then there use hydroxyethyl methacrylate--an organic monomer used to make many plastics. The researchers saturated cotton compresses with the monomer and a polymerization agent and applied the preparation to terracotta fragments from a broken warrior. The water-soluble monomer diffused through the lacquer coat, partially replacing the water in the coat's tiny pores.
Then, using an electron accelerator, the researchers irradiated the fragments with electron beams. The electrons activated the polymerization agent, which stitched the monomers together into polymers, consolidating the polychrome. OK

This is a historic place to visit, as it's the resting place of CHINA'S first Emperor, it's about 5km before you get to the Terracotta Worriors, well worth the stop. Do it on the way out as it will give you a better understanding of the Terracotta Army, there is a great 1/2hr Stage Show every 2hr's, than you can walk to the top of the hill/mausoleum which gives you a great view of the surrounding country, you can also see the site of the Terracotta Army some 5km away.
P.S dont bother taking the Golf Buggy Tour, it only takes you around the Pine tree plantation and to a small Fortune Telling site where they try to extract more money from you.
Other than that this is a great place to see.

They have not dug up the tomb and never will unless sombody does somthing now. Plus the tomb is supposed to be guarded by mechanical crossbows that will fire at any one that tresspasses.

For those asking about when the mausoleum will be fully unearthed, I've read that it will happen when a technology is available to preserve the unearthed remains. Apparently the terra cotta warriors were all colored when they were first unearthed, but quickly oxidized within days or weeks (I don't recall). As a consequence, I understand there has been a suspension of further archaeological activity until such time that the full integrity of these historical treasures can be preserved.
