Oct. 8,2009 00:35 Mr.Alvin(Hong Kong) replied:
There is about 9 hr (12:15 - 21:40). The Airport Express MTR train can take you to and from Airport in a little more than half hour. Since you have only 9 hour, taking MTR (i.e. the underground railway) to SHOPPING areas is the most economical and efficient way. You can also go to Central and take the peak-tram to the peak. Just remind you to get a VISA (or else, I am not quite sure) to enter HK. have a nice trip !

Yes, there are different currencies. In Hong Kong, HKD is the local currency of course. RMB can be used in stores in scenic area or some big shopping centers. But it is easy to find place to exchange money. Still suggest you take HKD if you do not get to mainland China, or pay buy card in case of bring much cash.

How far is the famous Buddha's statue?
Sep. 16,2009 21:22 Mr.Shan replied:
I don't think you will have enough time to go to other places from the airport. Even you go to the nearest Buddha's statue, 4~5hours is needed at least. Once you leave the airport, it means that you have to go through the HK customs. immigration and luggage check-in again, all of which will take you a long time. So, it is suggested that you stay in the airport(dining or shopping) during the only 5.5 hours. BTW, if you hold a valid Indian passport, you don't need any visa to visit HK.

By train. Guangzhou East Railway Station has trains to Hong Kong Hung Hom (1 hours and 45 minutes). Than you can change to airport express train from Kowloon to the airport. The entire journey may take 3-4 hours. So, you have little time to get around. One option: Take MTR to Central from Hung Hom then take Bus 15 to the Peak. Then back to Central to take MTR to Kowloon to catch the airport express. Another option: get off at Tung Chung to visit Citygate Outlets for shopping and get around. Then take airport bus to the airport.
