Fantastic show. Do not miss it. I've never seen anything quite like it. The stage is an estuary on the Li River and it extends for several hundred meters. The lighting is simple, using only colored spot lights, indirect/direct lighting and battery-operated lights on the costumes. It is reminiscent of the Beijing Olympics Opening. The local karsts are used to amazing effect as they are lighted up. There is great choreography using dozens (hundreds?) of performers. Together with a bamboo boatride and a local bicycle trip, it is just a perfect visit to a wonderful town and incredible countryside.

It looks the show is spectaculor but I am wondering about another thing- if the bus ride to the show can substitute the LI river cruise .I do not have enough time but want to see them both/the scenery and the show/

I have been in Yangshuo in november 2007 and agree with alfonso. Great outdoor performance directed by the well known Zhang Yimou. Am currently in Kunming, Yunnan and wonder if "Impression Lijiang" other similar outdoor performance is on going in these days in Lijiang. is there anybody who knows about it???

Hello, Mr. Franco. The performance that you saw in Yangshuo is called Longji Impression (Longji Terraced Farmland). Now, you refer to another outdoor performance in Lijiang. Impression Lijiang performance is held veryday in Lanyugu Theatre, Ganhaizi, the Jade Dragon Mountain, Lijiang City. The ticket costs CNY260/190.

An absolutely fabulous show, with incredibly colorful and artistically well-coordinated precision for such a large and varied cast, working simultaneously on land and water. The choreography and music were spectaculat, and the lighting was breathtaking, especially when the mountains were lit up and the ship or the moon was illuminated on the river. We saw the show in October, 2008, and we are also delighted with the DVD we bought.
