Hi,

I am planing to got to Lhasa in mid May. I will be travelling from Chengdu & will be travelling on my own. Can you recomened any tour operaters. I would prefer the tour agent to arrange flights, budget hotel, permit & tour. I plan to stay in Lhasa for about 5 days. I have searched on the internet and the prices are really high for a single traveller. I have seen adverts for "join in" tours, do most groups offer this service?

Thanks in advance

I would like to go to Tibet as soon as May. Can anyone suggest the best way to get there?

Mr.Roger replied:

Where will you leave for Tibet? It seems that if you come from America and firstly arrive at Shanghai airport, then you could fly to Chengdu where the most frequent flights to Tibet is supplied.
Of course, there are trains from Shanghai, Beijing, Xi'an and Chengdu to Lhasa, but it is some difficulties for you to book a ticket and take the long-term journey.

Thanks Mr. Roger. I am coming from Portland, OR, and am hoping not to have to pay for an expensive commercial tour. Is there any other way to see Tibet than one of these overpriced tours? Thanks.

Mr.derek(China) replied:

Actually, there're many other tibetan areas where have beautiful scenery except Tibet, such as Sichuan province,Gansu province,Qinghai province and so on.
For detail informations, you can Google them.

Lhasa visit was the best...the food, beer, monastaries. Potola Palace was amazing! more so than the Great Wall this trip. I got a prayer wheel that will always bring me back to Lhasa.

We are planning to go to Lhasa in August. Can you tell me how easy/difficult to get tourist visa, how did you get it, apply yourself or tourist agent?
Please email me at scottana_corvey@yahoo.com. Any tips are much appreciated.

Thanks
Ana

Potala Palace, the symbol of Tibet! It is not as grand and spectacular as it looks, in fact. But it is unique.

Another thing, the sky in Lhasa is really clear and azure!
