Hello again,

at least i have more information.
I will leave shanghai by train in the morning and arrive at hangzhou.
Then i would like to take the bus to Taokou.
I don't find hostel or guest house in Taokou, there are or not hostel and guesthouse in taokou ?
Thanks a lot for your help,
Best regards,
Corinne

Ms.Susan replied:

Well, maybe okay! The coaches from Hangzhou West Bus Station to Huangshan Scenic Area (also Tangkou)leave at 08:00, 10:30, 10:50, 12:40, 14:10 and 15:10. So, book a proper train from Shanghai for you~

There are many local hostels in Tangkou, so you could look for one when you arrival. Some is very cheap~ I heard a hotel called Yunhailou wich supplies comfortable room at a rate of 60yuan. Have a try!

Hi,

I want to bring my parents to Huangshan but they are not in very good condition. We want to stay one night ans see the sunrise next day... If we take the cable car,do we need to walk a lot to the hotel and to the place where to see the sunrise?
Thanks

Jun. 27,2009 21:24
Mr.John replied:

I do not know where is your hotel. If you want to walk less to see the sunrise, you can consider to take the cable car to Bai E Long or Yu Ping Lou. They are destinations of two of the three cable ways, and good place to see the sunrise.

Mrs.corinne(france) replied:

Thanks a lot Susan and Shan !
I change my plan :)
so :
-taking the night train from shanghai tu huang shan, there is one which arrive at 9:00.
- go to tangkou and be there around 12, find an kind of hostel.
- take the yungu cable Car to Baie Peak. So i have around 4 hours in the mountain that's it ? And maybe go back by foot so i would have more time at the top.

In fact, if i don't go to the mountain the day i will arrive, i don't know what to do there...

Thanks a lot if you can answer me!
Corinne

Hello,
here is my plan to have a journey in huanshan :
- take the train from shangai to hangzhou by night
- go to Tunxi and then the montain in the morning
- go to the top with car cable (i don't want to climb a lot by foot, is it possible ?)
- return to the bottom of the montain, and sleep here or return to tunxi.
Do you think my plan is ok ?
Thanks a lot for your help,
Best regards,
Corinne

Jul. 1,2009 23:23
Mr.Shan replied:

To be frankly, I don't think it is an ideal plan.
Firstly, you could take bus from Shanghai to Huangshan Scenic Area directly, or to Tunxi by bus or train. No need to transfer at Hangzhou.
2nd, no matter you take bus or train, you could arrive at Huangshan around 12:00. So, it is impossible for you to visit the mountain entirely.
3rd, as for the cable car, you could take the Yungu Cable Car to Baie Peak, do a short viwe there. The last return cable car leaves at 17:00. So, just only 1~1.5 hours left for your visit~

Dear Tour operators,
We are planning to visit China starting 8th or 9 th of July and end around 14th. /including travel time/. I believe Mt.Huangshan is one of the best places on earth. Its for the people who love nature, spiritual journey, peace, etc. Here are things we/a couple/ really wanna do/see:
-sunrise at Mount Huangshan
-climb mountain about 3-5 hours.
-little boat trip
-hot spring
-other recommended things, we don't want to be part in a group. We like doing things on our own but this time I guess we need a little held. Also please recommend a hotel

Mr.Tong(China) replied:

Hi Christine,
Shanghai is approx. 5 hours from Huangshan by car. Perhaps you can consider flying into Shanghai.
Shanghai is a nice place to visit with lots, somewhat similar to Hong Kong, but shopping is more expensive due to Tax and Duty.
From Shanghai you can take a bullet train to Hangzhou, famous for its West Lake.
There are hourly bus services from Hangzhou to Huangshan.
There are hotel inside the scenic area up in the mountain. Its condition is acceptable. You should plan to stay 2 to 3 nights in Huangshan.
You can return via air from the Huangshan airport.

We are a party of three who plan to visit Yellow Mountains in a couple of weeks. We are artists, in our 60s and frankly aren't in great physical condition. One final point, I have height issues and so am concerned I will have trouble riding a cable car. Are there roads up the mountain and can one hire a driver?

Unfortunately, it has just come to my attention that the way up the mountain may only be to walk and I leave for China tomorrow, the eighth. I would so appreciate an answer today if possible.

Thanks,
Gail Racy

Ms.Meng replied:

It seems that the only way to climb up the mountain is walk cable car. And, litter From Jade Screen to Tianhai.

Mr.Tong(China) replied:

Hello Julie
The closest airport is Huang Shan Airport. There are daily flight from Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guongzhou. HuangShan Airport is 40 minutes by taxi or bus to the Town of Tongko. From there it is a 20 minutes ride via park shuttle to the cable car station

I am one of the staff in Huangshan Scenice Area. Give some useful tips for you guys who want to travel around this attraction: The Heavenly Capital Peak (Tiandu Feng) and the West Sea (Xihai) Grand Canyon were closed on December 1 last year. They are very steep. It is very dangerous for tourists to pass through these areas after icing and freezing in winter. The two scenic areas will be reopened to tourists on April 1 this year.
The West Sea Grand Canyon, between the White Cloud Temple and the Cloud-Dispelling Pavilion, is the best sightseeing route for tourists to appreciate the sea of cloud and sunset glow. Both sites are essential scenic spots for most tourists who visit Mt. Huangshan.
