Hello,
I am going to Beijing in Feb 2010, I really want to go to Jiuzhaigou, it looks amazing, what the cheapest/best way to visit from Beijing?? (i'll be travelling alone as a young female too if some of the routes may be unsafe.
Thank you soo much :)

Oct. 21,2009 21:51
Mr.Jamie replied:

Cheapest way: Beijing to Chengdu by train, but it will be a long jorney
Cheaper way: fly to Chengdu from Beijing and take 10 hours bus to Jiuzhigou
The most expensive way: Fly to Jiuzhaigou airport from Beijing
No problem for you travel alone, perhaps the last way is the most convenient and safe as you said. However the flight ticket is expensive. As the data shows, it is over 2000RMB now.

I plan go to Jiuzhaigou on 22-26/11/09, is the scenery there beautiful ? it too late for us to see the red & yellow leaves on mountain ?

Oct. 21,2009 21:36
Mr.Jamie replied:

It is a bit late. The best time to see the red leaves is from Oct 15 to Nov 15. It may snow in the end of Nov. You might see mountain covered with white snow. If you want to see the most beautiful Jiuzhaigou, go earlier In Oct. The benifit to go in late Nov is few tourists there and cheaper entrance fee.

I noticed Songpan located not far from the Huanglong Airport. Please advise what's to look for in there? Thanks.

Oct. 21,2009 21:32
Ms.Dora replied:

Songpan has ancient city ruins and the most famous is the pacakge tour on horse back. You can jion the local horse band and ride on horse heading for Jiuzhaigou or other destinations. You can just rent a taxi to Songpan directly. It didn't cost too much.

Appreciated for all your good tips for the Jiuzhaigou trip. I will followup on that specially the Airline schedule. By the way, did the Sichuan Airline and the China Eastern Airline merged recently?

To Mr.Kai Wen(China): You mentioned the best time taking the trip is before or after the May/Oct holidays. You also mentioned that April would be beautiful, I agree. Snow on top of the mountains with the reflection from the lake, it's fantastic for photographs! How about the water falls, is the water still frozen? How cold there in April? OK, which week of the April is the best. Thanks.

Robert Feng, 10/17/2009

Mr.Jamie replied:

As I know, these two airlines has operations in some fileds, but still two independent airlines. As to the airline schedule, you don't tell where are your leaving from. You can search flight info here:
www.travelchinaguide.com/china-flights/

Water is not frozen at April, it is getting warmer, but still very cool. The temperature is about 9-18C. Suggest go in late April.

We are planing to go to Jiuzhaigou on end of November ,its already snowing ? Is Huanlong closed ? Can we see the leaves turning yellow and red on mountains ?

Oct. 18,2009 03:46
Mr.Andy replied:

Yes, it is already very cold there and should be snowy there. Huanglong will be closed since Nov16, generally, sometime on Dec 1. So you may miss it. Do you make sure your time of travel? Nov is not a good season to visit Jiuzhaigou.

My trip to Jiuzhaigou is planned on 25 Oct 2009. hopes to cover JZG and Huanglong in 1 and a half day. After that will proceed to Songpan and stay over a night. I intend to do 1 way flight and 1 way bus. Any advise to do Songpan or jiuzhaigou first if i arrive by flight? Total 4 days to explore JZG and Songpan, sound possible? If i choose to return from Songpan by bus, can i purchase my bus ticket in Jiuzhaigou? Would it be difficult to check into a hostel around evening time? – With thanks.

Oct. 17,2009 01:01
Mr.Sam replied:

4 days are enough for explore these places. You could visit Huanglong and Jiuzhaigou firstly and finally one-day tour in Songpan. Well, I think you could take a bus from Jiuzhaigou to Songpan in the afternoon of the 3rd day, then please purchase the bus ticket on the spot. You could find a hostel when you arrive there!

Hi,I understand that the best time to travel to Jiuzhaigou is in October, however, can someone suggest me what will be the weather there if i travel in the early of June 2010? Tx!

Oct. 17,2009 00:58
Mr.Sam replied:

The valley is in summer but hte average temperation is just around 15C, so you should prepare a long-sleeves shirt for cool night. And, you should prevent the strong sunshine at daytime when visiting.

We postponed our trip to next year, 2010 to avoid Swine Flu just in case. Appreciate your input:
1) Best time to go to Jiuzhaigau, Spring or Fall? Which month?
2) In the news, started Oct 2009 one can have direct flight from Shanghai or Hangzhou to Jiuzhaigau. Anyone knows the flight schedule? Thanks.
3) To avoid people "jam pack" in the place, which month or dates would be the best time/period to visit the area?
4) I have been monitoring the weather at the Jiuzhaigau area via my computer. It's rain/snow everyday this week, temperature 0c~10c range daily. But now is only mid-October, already that cold?

Many thanks!

Oct. 12,2009 21:36
Mr.Hank replied:

The best time of Jiuzhaigou is every Sep and Oct when the natural scenery is in the most beautiful season. If you worry about the crowded peope and the cold weather, please come to Jiuzhaigou in the middle of Sep.

Yes, as I know, the Sichuan Airlines has opened airlines between Jiuzhaigou and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport&Hangzhou already. You could search the flight schedule at http://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-flights/

Oct. 12,2009 22:24
Ms.Joyce(Singapore) replied:

Oh, you mean it's already snowing now in Oct? I think I had heard a China lady from a tour agency telling me that 3 weeks ago.

hmm...wonder if the leaves would still be on the tree in early nov?

Oct. 14,2009 22:07
Mr.Kai Wen(China) replied:

No it's not that cold in Jiuzhaigou at the moment. I find accuweather.com gives quite a good forecast. There has been quite a lot of rain but also a few sunny blue sky days.

Sichuan airlines are running flights from Beijing as well. I looked for schedules on ctrip but couldn't find any. Maybe on the sichuan airlines site?

To avoid the crowds a good time to come is just before or after the national holiday in May or October. That is when most Chinese people travel. If you get to China the week after those holidays there are usually less people and it's also the prettiest seasons.

April is also beautiful. There is still snow on the mountains and the summer greens are starting to come out.

I am planning to go to Jiuzhaikou within 2 weeks, but want to take a very safe and free-of-mind trip.

any recommendation :
from Chengdu airport to jiuzhaikou - by air or by car? can we rent a car & driver for 4 of us?

what are the must go places in jiuzhaikou? can we hire a private car there within jiuzhaikou?

is sheraton the best hotel there?

thanks! ccyu

Oct. 8,2009 22:57
Mr.Jamie replied:

It will be ten hours by bus, but it save some money than going by air. To rent a taxi for four people, it is 500RMB or so for single trip to Jiuzhaigou.

Within Jiuzhaigou, there are shuttle bus among scenic spots. No need to have a private car, i think. Sheraton is herhaps the best, also for its is very close to the vally.

Is the scenery in Jiuzhaigou & Huanlong nice if we go in say 7 November? I do not want to be disappointed to see only murky water instead of crystal clear blue green ones but that's probably the earliest we can come.

Sep. 22,2009 20:05
Mr.Jamie replied:

Jiuzhaigou's autumn is the most beautiful. Yes, generally mid to late October is the better season to visit there. Early November is fine too. You can see the leaves turning yellow and red on mountains, blue waters. It is not rainy but it is a bit cold, 4-13C approximately. Keep warm.

Hi, My family planned to visit Jiuzhaigou on the 15Dec09, have some concern on the altitute of the area as my wife is quite prone to mountain sickness. Any idea if the tourist areas is higher than those in Yulong Mountain in Kunming? Also, will the area covered by snow by 15Dec?

Many Thanks

Sep. 16,2009 02:29
Mr.Shan replied:

Do you mean the Yulong Mountain (Jade Dragon Mountain) in Lijiang? If so, its altitude is over 4,000kms. And, the altitude of Jiuzhaigou is between 2,000 and 3,000kms~ Difficult to say whether snow is available then. But, the weather should be cold already.

I am planning to go to Jiuzhaigou next year. Is it possible to see all the more scenic places in one day? Is the admission ticket valid only for one day?
Is there usually a long walk from where the sightseeing shuttle bus stops to the scenic spot? Can anyone give an estimate in distance or walking time?

Sep. 16,2009 02:23
Mr.Hank replied:

The Jiuzhaigou Valley is too large to visiting all of the places in one day. If you would like to view the valley completely, it is suggested that you have a 2-day's trip at least. The ticket is just valid for one time visit.

The shuttle bus in the scenic area is conevenient, unless you go to these remote area.
