I flew into Fuzhou which is north of Putian, then you need to travel two hours by road. Alternatively you can fly into Xiamen which is about two hours south of Putian, then again travel by road.

Hi, I'm a putianese and live in US for more than 20 years. You could go this way: LA or SF fly to Shanghai and fly to Changle airport which near Fuzhou towards Putian, than bus to Putian. My childhood friend picked me up from Changle airport, we only took one hr to arrive putian city through high way. When I was a child I remember it took me 3 hrs to get fuzhou. Or, you could go LA to Hong Kong then fly to Changle airport then bus to Putian.

Putain is full of scammers. I lived there for one years. The "English Training School" is a scam and some of the people running it will try to get you to open a bank account in YOUR name so they can sell FAKE shoes and handbags with you taking the fall should they get caught. They pull this while making "friends" with you and while you are beholden working for them at the school. Type "Putian Scam" anywhere in google. Most legit sites won't even do business with the entire city as no legit products are made there. It's all knock offs and scams. Nothing is legal about the products and getting rooked into teaching at the school which lies to the parents who pay to send their kids there AND to prospective teachers is a big, big mistake. Go to Xiamen, a lovely tourist area south of there and stay out of Putian!

HI MS Kristina there is no train for you from putian to meizhou, only bus & coach avariable for you, if you are a family group, i suggest you just charter a bus to travel. it maybe cost you 300rmb to 500rmb

from Guangzhou, how to go to putian city by air, for shoes market?
Apr. 17,2009 03:18 Ms.Emma replied:
Putian has no airport, so you have to use the Fuzhou Airport. Every day, the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport has five or more flights to Fuzhou.
Arriving in Fuzhou, you could take the airport bus to Putian directly. The bus station is just outside the arrival hall. From 09:00 to 22:00 there have frequent buses to Futian City. The whole journey is around 2 hours and the fare is 60yuan per person.

Hi, although Putian doesn't have so many good quality hotels actually, it is easy for you to find one when you arrive in. The only commerical street of Putian is located in the Wenxian Bei Road both for shopping and eating. You may find a satisfying hotel there~ The price of a four-star hotel should be around 300rmb/night.
If you would like to visit the Meizhou Island, there is a three-star hotel called Meihai Hotel. A standard room per night charges around 150rmb.

I plan to visit Putian in March-any tips on what to see and wather conditions?
I lived in Putian in 2005/06. It's not got many tourists spots apart from the obvious Guanghua Temple which is vast and lovely to wander around, plagued by beggars out front I'm afraid. One little known place is the Zhongtan Waterfall area which is rarely visited. It has a suspension bridge over a gorge, trails up and down the mountain to follow, stepping stones over the river and of course a lovely waterfall. Further afield if you can get to Meizhou Island that's fantastic for views and trails - I took a bus then boat to get there. Also Ju Li Hou scenic area is gorgeous - best to hire a driver for the day to get there if you're not confident taking buses. Both are well worth making a day trip to. Weather in March should have warmed up - it got pretty cold there at times in the winter months. Hope that helps.
