Hi,

Does it snow in Harbin during December? What should be the right clothing? Is weather too cold for 8 yr old children? Many thanks.

Usually, there will be snow during Dec. The weather will be cold even for adult. So, please prepare down jacket, warm trousers and shoes for you all. Anyway, the beautiful snow scenery is really worthy~

Planning to go Harbin around December 23th. Is the ice sculpture already there?

Sep. 9,2009 21:18
Mr.Clark replied:

Yes, you can see ice sculpture at that time. The ice and snow sculpture destical will not open at that day, but some place will open in trial. Sun Island and Zhapling Park will have a trial opening before December 22. Ice and Snow World will be later. It was December 25th last year, noe sure about this year.

I'm planning to go there in the last week of December crossing over to the new year. I'm a photographer ad would like to stay out long at night to capture the ice sculptures. What kind of winter wear would I need?

Thanks.

Jul. 29,2009 02:14
Mr.Clark replied:

Snug down coat, thick padded jacket, cap, gloves and boots, etc. Temperature is below minus 10C and be colder at night outside. Keep warm. ~

Aug. 18,2009 12:08
Mr.Manish(India) replied:

All that Mr Clark has said, and more!! Except for the temperature. The last week of the year will see temperatures drop to -30 degree Celsius, so get a suitcase full of woollens!

I visited Harbin last Nov, when it was -19 degrees Celsius, and coming from India that was freezing!!

Mr.yoyo(usa) replied:

Have you decided to go to China already? If yes, then book a ticket now as the earlier the cheaper! , You know it is the hot season to Harbin in Winter. You'd better book with a Chinese travel agency as they offer the biggest discount. This is a good travel agency i think, you can book through them. January is the winter holiday, there will be a lot of people in China then, you should book the hotel and tickets i advance. Actually, the best way is to follow a travel agency, they will arrange everything for you before you come to China, what to need to do is enjoying the beautiful scenery of China. Just my personal opinion.
PS: Travelchinaguide is really a good and reliable travel agency.

Mr.Clark replied:

As the data in the next few months, the ticket is relatively cheaper in late August and early October (Beijing to Harbin). Just hard to tell exct time and where to buy. It also depends on airlines. Seems China Southern Airlines are cheaper. You can pay attention to flight infor changing through internet.

Yes, Harbin is the best place to experience snow. Yabuli skiing resort near Harbin is a good place. There are luxury buses at Harbin Railway Station which will carry you to the Skiing resort in three hours.

I want to go to Harbin in November to see snow. Is it a good period for me?

Jul. 15,2009 22:51
Ms.Ruth(China) replied:

Oh, I suggest you put off your traveling time. November is a period without characteristics for Harbin, I personally think. The weather is very cold but not enough to see the most beautiful snow view. You may go there in late December and January to February is the best. During that time, you can see ice carvings and ice lanterns. Harbin is renowned as Ice City. You will love it.
