Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center
Shanghai is the cradle of Chinese drama. In its nearly 100 years of development, drama plays a very important role in the spread of culture. Shanghai is still outstanding for drama performance and is especially famous as home to the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center.

Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center is the only national drama center in the city. It was established in 1995 by combining two famous drama troupes – Shanghai People's Arts Center Troupe and Shanghai Youth Drama Troupe. At present, it has already got hundreds of classical Chinese and foreign dramas on show. Music dramas and dance are sometimes performed here.

Today's Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center gathers the most brilliant playwrights, directors, producers and actors in China. The three major theaters, including the big Arts Theater, middle-sized Studio D6 and the small but exquisite Drama Salon are well-equipped to guarantee high quality performance.

 Shanghai Art Theatre
Shanghai Art Theatre, also named Yihai Theatre, is located at Jiangning Lu which is near to Nanjing West Road. It is an intellectualized and modernized as well as multi-functional cultural complex theatre which includes all kind of performing arts, such as ballet, drama and concert. Completed in 2001, the theatre has eight floors: two underground floors as parking lots, first floor as the theatre and from the third to fifth floor as auxiliary, the dressing rooms, class rooms, rehearsal halls, offices, laundry etc. There is also a restaurant and a coffee house in the theatre. With a seating capacity of 999, Shanghai Art Theatre proudly provides you advanced equipment and comfortable service in support of your enjoyment of the performances.

Transportation: Take bus 112, 36, 24, 23, 76, 722, 206, 316, 19, 934 or subway line 2, and get off at Nanjing West Road, then walk to the theatre.
