At present, there is no airport in Leshan City, Sichuan Province. However, railways, highways and waterways in Leshan have formed a strong transportation network. In Leshan the main transportation method is by highway. From Leshan long-distance buses run in and out of Leshan City to surrounding places.

Waterway transportation from Leshan is very convenient to the cities located in the upper reaches of Yangtze River such as Chengdu, Ya'an, Ebian and down to the cities such as Wutongqiao, Jianwei, Yibin, Chongqing.

The railway transportation in Leshan is as convenient as waterway transportation. Chengdu→ Kunming railway line passes through Leshan City but there is no railway station in the Leshan downtown area. People who want to visit Mt. Emeishan can get off the Chengdu→ Kunming line at Emei Railway Station. This station is 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles) away from Mt. Emeishan Scenic Area and about 29 kilometers (about 18 miles) away from Leshan downtown area.
