Chamdo Region

The monastery, in Chamdo Town, was founded in 1444 by one of Tsong Khapa's disciples.

Lhasa Region

Barkhor, a circular street at the center of Old Lhasa, is the oldest street in a very traditional city in Tibet. 

8 kilometers (5 miles) west of Lhasa under Mt. Gambo Utse. It is the largest and richest monastery ever in Tibet.

Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarova in the region of Purang are the "Sacred Mountain and Holy Lake" of the Buddhism, Hinduism and the indigenous religion-Bon.

The ruins lie on a hilltop near a river and cover 180,000 square meters.

Nyingchi Region

Originating from a glacier on the northern Himalayas, is the highest river on the earth.

Shannan Region

Situated in Dranang, Samye Monastery was completed in 779 under the patron of Trisong Detsen.

Yamdrok Yumtso (or Yamdrok-tso), one of the three holiest lakes in Tibet, lies at Nhagartse, located about 100 kilometers (62 miles) to the southwest of Lhasa.

Shigatse Region

Lies about 230 kilometers (143 miles) south of Lhasa and 100 (62 miles) east of Shigatse at the foot of Dzong Hill. Built as a Tibetan monastery, its structural style is very unique.

Lies 2 kilometer (1.2 miles) west of Shigatse city. The monastery is a very influential monastery in Tibet.

Lies at the border between China and Nepal. Mt. Everest, also known as Mt. Qomolangma, meaning Mother Goddess of the Universe in Tibetan, is the highest peak in the world.
