Lhasa Weather in October

Because of the large temperature difference between day and night, make sure bring long johns, the wool sweaters, wool trousers and wadded jackets when visiting Lhasa in October. Mountaineering Jackets and sneakers are suggested. Down jackets are necessary if visitors include Namtso or Everest Base Camp in their itinerary. Besides, it is important to take sunscreen, sunglasses and sunhat to avoid sunburn caused by strong ultraviolet rays. Carry your own thermal mug if you prefer hot water.The sun shines by day, so it is comfortable to visit Jokhang Temple and Potala Palace, join the Tibetans walking around the temple and turning the Buddhist scriptures' tubes. It is always recommended for visitors to Barkhor Street, where the ancient city and traditional residential patterns have been well-preserved. Also, Norbulingka, as the Summer Palace for the successive Dalai Lamas, has the best garden landscape in Tibet with the most historical sites. It remains spring scenery in October. Nyingchi and Shigatse are also suggested if time permits.
 Compared with the summer season, the oxygen content of the air in Lhasa drops in autumn, so to have a good rest is particularly important when first arriving in Lhasa. Take some medicine for mountain sickness, colds and diarrhea. It should be noted that railroads to Lhasa may be closed down in case of heavy snow. So, tourists should pay attention to the weather forecast and make a proper travel plan before visit. Besides, it is crucial for visitors to respect local customs as the Tibetans are deeply religious Buddhist nation. For example, taking photographs or videos is not allowed without permission when visiting temples.
