Transportation of Xian Railway Station
Arriving in Xian
1. After getting off the train, you may have difficulty finding the Exit of the railway station. In this situation, you can follow the stream of passengers who have taken the same train as you. Because of the narrow stairways to the Exit, please take care of yourself and your baggage when you move downstairs.
2. Please look after your ticket well since you will be asked to show your valid ticket at the Exit of Xian Railway Station.
3. After you are out of the Exit, it is advised to leave the railway station by city-bus or by taxi. Don't chat with those people who try to recommend hotels and buses to you. Of course, please don't buy any souvenirs around the railway station.
4. Please keep away from those people who try to sell their tours to the Terra-cotta Warriors and Horse or the other tour destinations.
Leaving Xian
When should passengers arrive at the Railway Station before leaving?
Please arrive at the railway station at least 1 hour before the train leaves. Usually, passengers are allowed to enter into the Waiting Hall Building 3 hours before the train leaves. When entering into the Waiting Hall Building, passengers are required to show their valid train ticket for that time and accept the security check in.
How to find the right waiting halls in the Waiting Hall Building?
After entering into the two-storey Waiting Hall Building, you will notice that there are four waiting halls with the No.1 and No.2 on the first floor as well as the No.3 and No.4 on the second floor. Except for passengers with the cushioned berth tickets, the other passengers are required to wait for the trains in these four waiting halls. A big electric screen on the second floor displays the train number, departure time and the waiting hall number and can help passengers to find the right waiting hall.
Where is the waiting hall for passengers with cushioned berth tickets?
The VIP Waiting Hall, which is specially prepared for passengers with cushioned berth tickets, can be found both on the first and second floor.
Should I learn some simple Chinese characters?
Yes! Because the electric screen displays the waiting hall numbers in Chinese, it is suggested that overseas passengers recognize '一', '二', '三' and '四' which means No.1, No.2, No.3 and No.4 in English.
Is there any convenient way for passengers without cushioned berth tickets to take the trains?
There are two methods for passengers without cushioned berth tickets to take the train conveniently. One is to wait for trains in the 'Tea Waiting Hall' which is on the second floor. Here, another CNY10 per person should be paid. The other one is to ask for help from the workers with red hats. Before checking the train tickets, these workers will take passengers' baggage to the platform, charging CNY5 per baggage.
