The city is mainly divided into two parts, Xiaguan Economy Developing Area and Dali Ancient City Area. Since the founding of P.R.C, tourism has become the main income of Dali, and many hotels have been built up in the past few years to meet demands, most of which are located in the Ancient City Area. However, there are no luxury hotels in Dali at present. And it is also hard to find a top international hotel here. But there are some good budget hotels for traveling around this city while enjoying the special culture.

Dali Asia Star Hotel is a resort and conference hotel invested by Taiwan Asia Cooperative. It is built in garden-style and features palace architecture. Moreover, the hotel is ideally located with only 10 minutes' walking to Dali Ancient City, and 30 minutes' drive to the airport. It was opened in 1996 and renovated in 1999 with 310 rooms (suites) from which you might get a bird's eye view of mountains and lakes.

(3-star) Ancient City
This is a 2-story building with 137 rooms in total. It is built according to the style of the local architecture of the Bai People. It will be a good choice to stay in this hotel if you want to enjoy the local culture and the feeling of walking along the flagstone pavements. It was opened in April, 2003.

Golden Dali Hotel
(3-star) Xiaguan Economy Developing Area
Golden Dali Hotel is located in the Dali Economic Development Zone. It neighbors the southern end of Lake Erhai to the north and Cangshan Mountain to the west. Although the Golden Dali is far from the city center, the area around the hotel is quiet and clean, away from the bustling crowds of Xiaguan.
