Shaoxing taxis are a bit different from those in other cities. Each taxi company in Shaoxing has a distinct animal symbol like a rabbit, panda or dragon. These are not only for an interesting appearance but also for the convenience of passengers. If you lost something on your taxi, you can quickly find the company for this taxi if you remember only the symbol on the taxi.

There are over 800 taxis in Shaoxing. The starting fare is CNY 5 for the first 2.5 kilometers (1.55 miles), then, CNY 2.2 for each additional kilometer. A fuel surcharge of CNY 1 is also required per trip.
