The best time to visit Chengdu is from March to June and from September to November. July and August are the hottest months in Chengdu. Mt.Qingcheng, Xiling Snow Mountain, Mt. Tiantai and Longchi Forest Park are ideal places close to Chengdu for escaping the summer heat.
The subtropical monsoon climate influenced by Sichuan Basin brings the annual average temperature in Chengdu to about 16
C (61 F). Another distinctive feature is humidity with clouds and mist and little sunlight. Chengdu's summer is sultry with low temperature morning and evening, but high after noon. To avoid strong ultraviolet radiation and to stay dry, take a raincoat. The average temperature in winter is about 5 degrees Centigrade. However, due to the clouds and moist weather, it feels very cold.

It is about 0-10C in Jiuzhaigou. Wear underwear, sweater and down coat. You can see Jiuzhaigou in snow. Anyway, it is not a very good time to be there in December, however, not crowded at that time.

The temperature will be a bit cold (around 7C to 13C). The raining season is during the summer so you should not have that much rain (if so, it would just be occasionnaly).

I went to Chengdu last month, stayed at Chunxi Business Hotel, right at Chunxi Road,good location,shopping centre around, only cost me Rmb160/N with breakfast. Dec should be colder in Chengdu. Some of the places within Chengdu city easy to travel around, depand where you want to go. I rented a car from a local co. to travel around, save me a lot of troubles, haha... good service & reasonable price, if you need I can provide you their contact.

I am currently in Chengdu and the weather is not so cold (you may bring a sweater and a jacket though). It is reported that it will rain this week so bring your umbrella. If you didn't bring it don't worry you will find it at a cheap price in shops or even on the streets!

It is authum season here, about 10-15 degree and night time will be cold. There are so many places of interest around worth to visit here, Jiuzhaigou Park, Mt.Emei & Leshan, Dujiangyan & Mt.Qingcheng, Giant Panda Research Centre, Jinsha Ruins Musuem,Anciet Towns around and etc.

It is impossible to give you an accurate forecast. But, the Jiuzhaigou and Mt. Emei may be somewhat cold at the end of Oct. So, please take warm sweater and coat with you. The downtown area of Chengdu and Chongqing is in comfortable fall. You'd better pay attention to the real-time weather forecast before leaving.
