Located inland, Lanzhou has a typical temperate, semi-arid continental monsoon climate. It is dry with plenty of sunshine. Winter is long and chilly with an average temperature of -7.3
C(18.9F) while spring is ephemeral with changeable weather. In winter, a warm coat, scarf, gloves, hat, and boots are needed. Summer is short but not too hot with an average temperature of 22.4C (72.3F). A warm coat is a necessity on your trip to Lanzhou since the temperature can drop considerably in the evening. Autumn sees a rapid decrease in temperature. Though historical records show that in some extreme cases the temperature can be as low as -23.1C (-9.6F) and can rise to as high as 39.1C (102.4F), Lanzhou enjoys a favorable climate. These two cities almost have the same weather. Usually, in the early Oct, you could enjoy very comfortable weathere both in Lanzhou and Xian, plenty of sunshine and a little cool night. So, during daytine, a short-sleeves shirt with a thin jacket is ok. During early morning and late night, suggested that you wear warm coat. If you come at other time of Oct, please take your long-sleeves and warm coat since it may have some cold rain. On the other hand, you may feel a little drier in Lanzhou than in Xi'an.

Seems there are seldom vegetarian restaurants in Lanzhou. But, the vegetarian food are cooked by many restaurants which also supply other food. So, please take it easy~ Hope this helps!

It is a perfect city which is part and parcel of China. There are various nice fruits such as Hami melons, kiwi fruits, grapes, bergamot pears and so on. Because of longtime duration of sunshine, they are extremely sweet and containing enough vitamin and water. Of course, you had better taste a wonderful food called Niurou Mian(a kind of beefnoodle). I promise it will not slip your mind, if you have been to Lanzhou.
