Angola Highlights - Mountains to Deserts

On your arrival, you will be met at Luanda International Airport by our English-speaking representative. You will then be transferred to hotel in the center of Luanda. You may choose to wander around the neighborhood or have a rest in the hotel.

After breakfast, we'll head south along the Atlantic Ocean, stopping at the view point “Miradouro de Lua”. We then cross the mighty River Kwanza and enter the Kissama National Park. From the River Kwanza to the park, there are many kinds of vegetation: mangroves, dense woods, savannas, cacti, baobabs, etc. We will have lunch and then a trip on the river. We’ll also have time to relax and enjoy the spectacular views of the Kwanza Basin. Once we're settled in the lodge, we'll take an evening game drive in the park.

We will take an early morning game drive in the park, then have breakfast before continuing the trip south. We'll take a break in the old town of Porto Amboim. We then turn inland for a few kilometers, continuing through the beautiful countryside to reach the very beautiful waterfalls at “Cachoeiras do Binga” on the Keve River. We will have our picnic lunch and then pass through Sumbe. We’ll finally arrive at today’s hotel in Benguela.

Leaving early in the morning, we will have a quick city tour of Benguela and its surrounding areas and then immediately turn inland to Lubango. We will pass some spectacular views of the Chongoroi and Quilengues, and climb up the central plain escarpment. We will arrive in Lubango in the late afternoon. We are now at an altitude of about 2,000 meters above sea level, witnessing considerable climate change.

In the morning, you will be accompanied by your driver guide to have a sightseeing tour of Lubango. There are a lot to see in Lubango including the spectacular gorge “Tundavala Gorge”, the enormous statue of “Cristo Rei”, the Chapel of “Nossa Sra Monte”, as well as some historical sites, such as the Cemetery of the Boer settlers, Missionary at Jau, etc. Throughout our travel in the south region, we might come into direct contact with some of the different tribes that are native to the land.

In the afternoon, we will drive across the now famous “Serra de Leba” pass with winding mountain roads and travel into the coastal town of Namibe. We will have a visit of this beautiful town and then check into a fascinating lodge in Namibe.

Today we’ll move on to the northern extremes of the Namibe desert to explore this oldest and most extensive deserts in the world. Here we will witness another major climate change and see many sights including the “Oasis O Arco”, the enormous “Welwitschia Mirabilis” plants unique to these sands. After the visit, we will assist you to take the flight back to Luanda from Namibe, and the air duration is 1 hour 45 minutes.

Your best Angola private tour is coming to an end today. Our driver will escort you in a comfortable car to the Luanda airport, where you can fly home or continue your journey. Have a nice trip!
