Tonga is an island country in the west of South Pacific Ocean. It has little mineral resources. The level of its productive forces is not high. Fishery and tourism are its major economic backbones. The economy of the county depends on foreign aid largely. The foreign aid is mainly from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, European Union and Asian Development Bank.
1. Export from Tonga needn't pay for tariff, while import from other countries must pay for it.
2. Tonga doesn't have the related regulations of anti-dumping and countervailing.
3. Importers or their agents should hold the bill of lading, the packing list and the related invoice to declare to Tonga Customs. After the Customs and the quarantine department check the cargo, the importers or their agents should pay up tariff.
At present, Tonga doesn't have restriction on import or export trade. But the import or export sections should apply for the trade permit of import and export in the Tonga Ministry of Trade and Industry. The import trade permit is charged at 5 to 30 pa'angas while the export trade permit will be charged at 10 to 50 pa'angas. The export trade of agricultural products is done after the approval of Tonga Ministry of Agriculture.

The best thing to do is write to San Franciso the Tongan Consulate Office and ask them to let you know the China's office email and contact persson. But cc yourself so that you can find out the 411. OK? Hope that helps you all.
As for the person who wrote about products to ship to Tonga and needs a store. Write to Kinikinilau or Morris or find out from them who can you can contact or the consulate can tell you that too. Talamahu Maketi in Nukualofa is the biggest market so find out the person who is coordinating that market and contact them w/ your issues.
Thanks/ofa atu

Do you have the email address of the Embassy of Tonga in China for further contacts? It's much better to communicate by email than make phone calls. Thanks.
