Good morning.
I am attending the Congress of the International Society of Urology in Shaghai, from October 31st to November 6th, 2009.
I am a specilalist urologist living and working in Mbabane, Swaziland. I am a Dutch national. I already have an invitation letter from the Chinese Medical Association. I suppose I have to travel to Pretoria in order to get a visa. Please let me know what papers to bring, how many days I need to spend in Pretoria and how much the charges will be. Could you send me an application form by email?

Aug. 3,2009 22:01
Mr.Owen replied:

yes, you may have to go to the consular office of the China Embassy in Pretoria to apply for the visa.
You need to provide the following documents besides the invitation letter:
a) One completed visa application form with one photo (passport photo) attached.
b) A passport valid for more than six months with blank visa pages.
c) Two-way air tickets and hotel reservation.
If it is your first time to China, you still have to present your 3 months bank-statements.
The visa fees and processing time can be seen on this webpage above.
As for the visa application form, please colltact it from the official website of the China embassy in South Africa below:

Hi, I am a South African citizen who recently got a job offer from a chinese language school as an English teacher, should I submit all the original documents from Chinese Government (e.g. foreign expert certificate and invitation letter)when I apply for a Z visa? Can I ask the school to fax or email those documents to me? Thanks

Aug. 1,2009 21:07
Mrs.Elizabeth replied:

Yes, you need to provide all of the original documents from the Chinese government for your visa application. If you can't provide the original ones, the fax form is better.

Ms.Karen(China) said:

Hello

I am a South African living in China, and my family would like to fly out to visit me sometime in the next few months. I know what the basic requirements are but have lately been told they need to prove they have something like US$100 per every day they plan to spend in China in order to get their visa! Is this true? Also I'm told that they need to show proof of hotel reservation - they will be staying with me and it would be a waste of money for them to book the hotel only for the sake of getting the visa.
Do they need to prove they have this impossible amount of money? What can they provide instead of proof of hotel booking?
Any advice would be appreciated!
- Karen

Jun. 23,2009 02:41
Mrs.Corinne replied:

Your family do have to provide the proof of enough money for their China trip such as their bank statement in the past three months.
As for the hotel reservation, it is not necessary. You could write an invitation letter enclosed with your valid address and contacts in China instead.

Irfan, if the Chinese embassy require south african ID, you have to provide it, or you won't get the visa. While you may call them again to talk with them about your conditions and ask them to give you some advice. Anyway, it is the embassy who will transact the visa for you.
