I will be participating on the United Nations study program to Nanjing, 13-31 July 2009. Could you please advise if I should make a reservation New York-Shanghai-New York; then take a train to Nanjing. I plan to depart NY on 9 July 2009 and return on 14 August 2009. Is Ramada Hotel, nearby Flower Drum, within walking distance to Nanjing University.
May. 25,2009 21:43
Ms.Evelyn(China) replied:
Mr. Tony, it's Drum Tower, not Flower Drum, called Gu Lou in Chinese. The Ramada Plaza Yihua Hotel is near Nanjing University.
You can reserve a airplane ticket from New York to Shanghai and then to New York. You can take a bullet train at Shanghai Railway Station to Nanjing. The trip needs about two hours.

My parents, brother and I are going to Beijing from June 4th to June 23. Should we be concern about the H1N1 flu since we have several relatives living in China that said to not come? It feels that they are not welcoming us by our relatives. We would be staying in the hotel anyways.
When we get to Beijing, we haven't booked our hotel rooms yet. Any recommendations to hotels that a family of 4 could stay and near the city of Beijing at a resonable price that is clean and not too expensive? I try to find some hotels but only limited to max 3 persons in one room and some reviews where poor which I though some hotels were cheap price and sound good. Any recomemdations? Thank you.
May. 19,2009 02:23
Ms.Christina (UK) replied:
In fact, H1N1 flu is not that serious in China. Some of my friends have been to China either for vocation or for business recently. They mentioned that Chinese people's life are in good order and not much influenced by the flu. They also met many other foreigners in China.
As for the hotel, if you would like to stay in one room, you'd better to book a two bedroom suite which have the enough space for your family. You could consider China World Trade Center - Century Apartment, Beijing.
You could find more info. about this hotel on this webiste. http://www.travelchinaguide.com/hotel/world-trade-beijing.htm

I have my tourist visa to enter China. I want to spend 3-4 weeks travelling. I am not sure what city I will leave China from. If I buy a one-way air ticket to Beijing, can I then purchase my ticket out of China later? I may end up taking a train to Thailand or Viet Nam and not exiting by air?
May. 10,2009 01:12
Mr.Xu(China) replied:
You mean you will fly back from Thailand or Vietnam to the United States, right? Yes, you can purchase a ticket in Vietnam or Thailand. I know Nanning in Guangxi opens the train route to Hanoi in Vietnam. You can go from Beijing to Nanning by air or by train and then transfer to Hanoi.

How are flights from Chicago being treated as far as HlNl flu. Does China consider Chicago an epidemic state? Also, is it proper for men to wear walking shorts during tours and with the warm weather.
May. 8,2009 04:45
Ms.Wang replied:
The strict inspection is taken of course, but don't worry about it too much. To wear shorts is Ok if you visit parks or entertainment places, but when you visit mosques, temples or monasteries, you should not wear shorts or slippers, you'd better wear some formal dress to show your respect to their religion.

We will be flying into Beijing next week.
How is Beijing airport treating new arrival since the H1N1 flu occurred.
Any restructions.
May. 6,2009 20:52
Mr.Wang(CN) replied:
Beijing Capital International Airport provides a special zone for the flights from epidemic areas. The airport cooperates with quarantine authorities to take the passengers’ temperature for two times. If a passenger needs to be closed off, the airport will use T3-D as the allocation area and send the passenger back to his country.
