Dear Maggie and Ruby,
First of all, thank you all so much for making my journey to China so wonderful. From the moment that Maggie and Sally communicated with me several times before the trip, to Robert, the Beijing office manager, who met me at my late-arrived plane to Beijing, to the last day of our time in Shanghai, Travel China Guide provided very good planning of our trip, and excellent service to our group's needs while in China. You chose outstanding hotels and restaurants.
1. The time allowed for sightseeing spots was fine for me; there was a wide variety of historical and artistic highlights.
2. The meals, for most part, were great. Never ate so well. If I had to choose one, it would be either the Mansions Gardens in Beijing, or the Silk Road Restaurant at Xian's airport. Never saw a more beautiful restaurant in any airport before.
3. The guides were very fine. I was very impressed with the English skills of all of them; how hard it is to learn another language so well. And their knowledge of each city was very good, and helpful. When some individuals in our small group complained about something, I was glad the guides nicely stuck to the itinerary already planned. After all, it was published online, and we all knew what we were agreeing to. On the other hand, flexibility on some issues is good, too. The guide can't be too rigid on small matters. I was glad we got to meet Maggie in Xian, since we had emailed often before the trip. I was a little ashamed of some of our small group, who had too many impatient demands and upset comments which they gave Maggie. But I was glad you just took them in stride, and kept smiling, and were very polite, Maggie. June in Shanghai was very sweet and her knowledge was very good, but perhaps she could use just a little more energy and enthusiasm in sharing her knowledge of Shanghai. Maybe it was just because she followed the very energetic Ruth in Xian that I noticed this. Also, our plane landed in Pudong and not in the domestic airport, which made June late (not her fault). I felt bad because some of our group were too impatient and frustrated because of that. I think the man who called her was way too angry. It was not her fault. Maybe that put a little dent in her spirit during our time there. Perhaps she needs to just learn more how to "throw it off and move on" as we say. That's a hard thing to do, but all of your guides have to do it. All in all, all the Travel China Guide's guides were very good. I would recommend them to anyone.
4. The cars and drivers were safe, clean and very nice.
I would cite Ruth in Xian as having outstanding energy, enthusiasm and love of Xian and of China which she communicated well.
Thank you again for a memorable China trip!
