Hi,
I just returned from my China trip 3 days ago. After I left Lhasa, I went to Shanghai and then to Putuoshan on my own. I had a marvelous time in Putuoshan: you should offer it as a regular trip from your company; it is fascinating, the food is good and the trip is not very difficult. Also, the hotels are quite nice.
My guide in Shanghai for the full day tour was a delightful young lady named Si-Si ( not her real name, but the name I called her). She was extremely knowledgable and very friendly. The first day's lunch was just adequate. Dinner on that day was very good and in a fine restaurant. There was only one problem- I had to eat alone. I feel that you should allow your guides to share meals with your clients - especially if you have single client - that way, we wouldn't feel so alone. The Broadway Mansions Hotel was especially fine ( I know you didn't arrange it, but I would recommend that you do) The rooms were beautiful, large and the view from my room -1501 was pectacular; the Bund and Pudong both! And the location at the end of Souzou Creek was so convenient! By the way, I ran into a neighbor and his family from Glendale, California while in Yu Yuan Garden: it truly is a small world!
My Lhasa trip was also very memorable. Our guide was quiet at first, but she warmed up considerably after she got to know us. Her spoken English was good, although her accent was thick, but after a day or so, we all got used to the other's way of speaking. She was very knowledgeable and was able to taylor our trip to Mrs. Sherchan's and my special needs. The driver was delightful and very friendly; he has also quite skillful on the mountain roads! The first night Sichuan dinner left much to be desired: it was somewhat strange and just OK.
The food at the Lhasa Hotel was quite good, especially the breakfast and the Chinese buffet for dinner. Overall, I had an excellent time.

PS The drivers in Shanghai were excellent and their vehicles were spotless.

Judy Su/ Brenda Wang,
I give the following comments as requested.
1. Meals arranged were excellent, the guide I had in Chongqing took me to a Chinese HOTPOT place that was great. This I would highly recommend to travelers.
2. The guides and vehicles/drivers assigned me were excellent and arrived on time to pick me up drop me off and were very good company. The guide assigned me in Chongqing (I cannot remember her name, you may have in your records) deserves a special mention. She made me feel very welcome in China and especially in Chongqing.
3. The Yangtze cruise I chose was a better standard than I had expected and your staff made sure all went smoothly. You may want to take note that some passengers were a bit upset that the cruise boats advertise that they pass through the lock system at the 3 gorges dam down to Yichang on the last day, I understand that no cruise boats have done this for some time. This was not a big problem for me but thought I would mention. You may also like to look at secure online credit card payments in the future.
4. Your service all through the process for me was excellent, well done.
_Testimonial_
After looking through many websites for travel in China I chose ttravelchinaguide.com for a boat cruise down the Yangze river, I could not be more happy with the staff who answered all my questions promptly. Guides and drivers were waiting for me at all the required locations, well prepared and treated me well. The Yangtze cruises are well organized and good fun with the staff very helpful. I would highly recommend Travel China Guide and will certainly use their services on my return visits to China in the future.
