Travel China Guide is indeed a real company. We were first quite worried that it was a bogus company. So we researched the proper newspaper websites as mentioned on your website for the indicated articles. Later we also discovered a link to TravelChinaGuide on the website of the "Consulate General of China" in San Francisco. All other /additional questions we had were always answered promptly. (the same day or maximum the day after.) About 10 days before our departure we got the e-ticket for our first leg of the journey. Once we got our baggage and were on our way a guide promptly picked us up at the airport.

It turned out to be a real pleasure traveling in China with TCG. All the guides spoke English very well and the accommodation (4 star hotels ) were always very good. We also thoroughly enjoyed the food. Since we like Chinese food we always ate Chinese food even though we had many choices of eating Western food too.

Normally we would have started our Yangtze River cruise in Wuhan. We got a call from Cynthia from TCG at the hotel in Guilin saying that instead of sailing from Wuhan we would sail from Yichang. She offered us the option of staying one more day in Shanghai or flying to Wuhan as scheduled and take a ca. 5 hour bus ride to Yichang. She suggested it might be more comfortable to stay another day in Shanghai which we were glad we did. In retrospective we think TCG should start the cruise in Yichang and add an extra day in Shanghai instead.

In Xian, since Travel China Guide was located in the same building as the Restaurant we were eating lunch, Cynthia came and introduced herself to us. We were very pleased to meet her in person. She gave us 2 T-shirts and a catalogue from TCG which was a bit late to have. We would have preferred to have one mailed to us once we were seriously considering their services.

We booked Regal Cruises for our Yangtze River Cruise. If we were to do it again we would take the Century Star ship which is much newer than Princess Jeannie. Our ship was OK but quite old, especially the cabins were very tight. Yet the food was excellent and plentiful and the personnel very helpful and friendly.

Overall, we would recommend Travel China Guide to our family and friends. This tour is going to be a memorable experience for a long time. We think we have seen a good deal of China and learned a lot about its history and people.
