The Muslim Quarter in Xian is indeed a lovely stop on any visit to Xian. I found the prices for trinkets and souvenirs back in 1999 to be better there than anywhere else in China. So, plan to spend an hour or two exploring the Muslim quarter.

Nowhere can I find if all these rooms we are booked in has hairdryers. Can you please notify me. And also, do they all have tea/coffee making facilities? Do they all suppy us with soap, sjampoo etc. because they are all 4* hotels, exceps for the one in Beijing. Do you think I just upgrade to a 4* in Beijing, or is the Forbidden kind of OK?
May. 16,2009 01:23
Nicole replied:
The hairdryers are available in the four hotels you will stay at. The coffee making facilities are not available in the hotels, only teapot is available. And in Grand New World Hotel, Guilin Bravo Hotel and Shanghai Days Hotel, the instant coffee bag is provided in the hotel room for free. Both soap and shampoo are available in the hotel rooms. Please rest assured that Forbidden Hotel is definitely acceptable and the hotel in Small Group tours cannot be changed. Have a nice trip.

Inform your travel agent all of your requirement before the tour starts, as room type (double or twin), guide's language (English or Spanish), diet (vegetarian or not, especially you are allergic of anything). Chinese cuisine seems to prefer the MSG very much. If you are not used to it, please inform your travel agent in advance and emphasis this to them. In case your agent forget to inform their local representatives, you'd better tell your requirement to your guide once again before order the meal or before the tour starts in the morning. To get more knowledge about chinese cuisine, we insisted our guides dine with us and they did provide more information. Some guides told us their office did not allow them to have dinner with the clients. Feel a bit confused...

It would be not necessary to bring large amount of money on you in cash. The ATM's are easily available China major cities at the Bank of China. As long as your ATM card is through Visa, Mastercard, or another major company. Be sure to tell your bank that you are travelling as well. I just took money whtn I needed it and put it in my front pocket in my jeans and had no trouble. If I was standing in a crowd I put my hands in my pockets. I didn't feel as if anybody was going to rob me at all. I felt safe. I even saw a chinese guy counting his money in daylight and nobody even looked at him!
