We would recommend venturing out of the beautiful hotel grounds to enjoy the great night eating and shopping after site seeing. Is very near the hutong areas of traditional Chinese neighborhoods. One of the best places to see old Beijing and venture out across the city.

About the hotel, Bamboo Garden, it is really a very nice place. The gardens are beautiful and it is really nice to be able to rest after coming back from the often harrassing visits through Beijing ! The close situation to the center and the well known hutong quarter is perfect for tourists. Moreover the subway station on the top of the road shows the direction of the hotel, which is very helpful. The rooms are very clean and convenient and moreover with nice furniture. An internet access outlet seem to be available in each room but is not connected unfortunately service people understand english and try to help. A massage service (basic service is free of charge) is available and efficient. You can ask for a taxi at the lobby to go to the airport early in the morning, the surcharge is not heavy at all (120yuan total) and paid in advance.

The restaurant is nice, with varied meals, not too much expensive. We had fortunately a problem of understanding the detail of the prices proposed for the seafood : the fish we choosed was proposed at a rate of 32 followed by a chinese symbol, ... and we discovered receiving the bill that 32 was not "32 yuan"
but : "32 yuan/kilo" for a fish weighing 2 kilograms. To avoid this kind of desagrement, could you propose the restaurant to write all the prices explicitely
in full english translation.

Hotel staff was very kind, helpfull and correct. Hotel facilities are good (good food in the restaurant, efficient business center with internet connection, nice rooms). Hotel setting is nice. We prefer this hotels to high modern buildings (but that's our opinion)
We enjoyed the location, specifically becouse it is situated between the Hutongs and on walking distance of the lakes where you have nice entertainment during the evening.

Bamboo Garden Hotel in Beijing was excellent, an oasis of peace in the midst of the demolitions of hutongs which was going on outside. We were lucky to have a really nice room and prolonged our stay, then found the other rooms not as nice, but were very happy with all facilities. The staff in the restaurant, business center, reception was extremely friendly and efficient.
The only trouble was that taxi drivers often refused to take us there or did not know it.

Delightful hotel, with easy access via the subway to central Beijing. Clean, with good restaurant offering wide selection of Chinese dishes. Despite the road works we really enjoyed our stay!
