City Hotel, Xi’an is located in the prosperous business area of the city center and very close to the Bell Tower. It is a modern three-star tourist-oriental hotel, which was opened in 1988 and redecorated in 2004. The hotel has 137 rooms equipped with central air-conditioner, IDD and DDD telephones, cable TV, mini-bar and so on. On the second floor, all kinds of distinctive delicacies are supplied, like the Sichuan and Cantonese flavored snacks and the four-season hot pot. The meeting room and the multifunctional hall are situated on the third floor, equipped with multimedia projector, sound and lighting machine. They are perfect places to hold all kinds of business conference, sodality, cocktail party and etc. On the seventh floor, there is the Qinyuan relaxation bar, where the gym, book bar, chess and card room and tea house are available.

I was very pleased with both the hotel and the TravelChinaGuide service. The hotel was reasonably priced and in a great location, near everything I wanted. The room was good and the staff was friendly. The biggest problem was the facilities were all closed. I thought there was a gym, a western restaurant and a bar on the second and seventh floors, but they were not open. So the advertising was false. That was disappointing, but it was a comfortable place to sleep in a good location. However, if you're a foreigner, you may not like the shower situation. It is not in a separate area of the bathroom, so the floor gets wet.

Many thanks again for your help for booking our hotels in Xian (City Hotel, Xian). It was a good hotel for what we paid, however, I did not like the shower as you can not take it off to shower other parts of your body and the flow was not right. It was close to a convenience store which was handy. Also there are no toilet facilities on the ground floor if you need one. Other than that it was overall average and good enough for what I paid.

This is the BIG problem. Every night the phone in our room would ring (sometimes more than once) and women on the other end would offer massage services. We would decline but about ten minutes later a prostitute would knock on our door expecting to be invited in. This probably means that the hotel switchboard is putting through calls from prostitutes to every room every night and letting them walk through the lobby and casually stroll around the halls knocking on doors. Do not stay in this hotel if you have kids or at least unplug the phone.
The staff was efficient but generally rude. They spoke English and some of them tried to help. Most generally ignored our requests. One night the manager was at the desk when I reported a stopped toilet and his response was to roll his eyes, attempt the word toilet sarcastically and wave me away toward another staff - not very welcoming.
The facilities are OK. Advertised as three-stars, I would give them less than two. The hotel is generally run down, dark and difficult to navigate. Good luck finding the fire escape.
Many people have mentioned that hotel serves Chinese breakfast. Chinese breakfast is fine but even that was served poorly at the City Hotel. The staff was unresponsive. The food was leftover from the previous day. The entire breakfast process as a challenge.
Our guide asked for a taxi to be called to take us to the train station (our last day was on our own). The hotel staff told the guide NO and suggested that we just take our bags and catch a taxi on the street.
Thank god the room was clean!

City hotel in Xian, it's located in good location near city wall, Drum and Bell tower, just walk and surrounding with shopping mall but hotel was little old and air-condition was not a fresh air, smell smoke and a carpet was dirty, hotel reception was fine in English speaking.(rating 3)
