Hi, please remove our earlier feedback and update with below:
Thanks for letting us write feedback on the hotels. We would rate the Chengheng Int'l Hotel 5 out of 5 (at overall level).
Excellent location, very close to Bell Tower, though u will not have a Bell Tower view from room. They charged less than mentioned one. And above that, they upgraded our room to en executive one (double happy)
We could also arrange a tour from hotel, and as we could not visit all tour location due to time constraint, they returned some money. Our experience in Xian was wonderful.
Thank you TCG as you took away a lot of burden from us. You deserve full 5 points
Cheers Tuhin & Susmita

The hotel is very well located close to the South Gate (of the Wall), the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower, and the Muslim Street (all walking distance). If you take the airport shuttle (25 RMB in March 2009) from just outside the exits at the airport terminal to Melody Hotel, Chengheng is around the corner and about 5 - 10 minutes walk. Importantly for guests from the US there are two - yes, two - Starbucks in close proximity! Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was smallish for a single room - I think it is 20 sq. m. including the bathroom! The shower drain was clogged and did not drain quickly. Housekeeping was efficient. Please mention clearly if the hotel room rate is with or without breakfast - there was a bit of a confusion at breakfast because it appears some guests at the hotel have breakfast included and since my room rate did not include breakfast, the restaurant staff got very nervous about it. I had to tell them quite firmly that I would pay for the breakfast. Overall though the hotel is very good and I will recommend it.
Booking the hotel through TCG was painless and efficiently handled. I think TCG is a good company to help with travel and I will use you for any future travel in China.

Chengheng International Hotel, Xian (Former Prince International Hotel): The location was very convenient for taking the airport bus. The hotel room was clean, a bit small for hotels in China. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Problem: The signage had not been changed and the Street Number (32) was not posted so I actually walked past the hotel, even after asking a security guard. There are two other buildings labels "Prince Hotel" in Chinese so it is confusing. As it was not raining it was not too bad a situation. The hotel needs to change their sign as well as put a large sign at the street level so that if one is walking past one sees the hotel entrance.
TCG Service: surprisingly good. Response time was great. I do hope that you can maintain this level of service.

[+][+][+] TCG Reply: Dear Ms. Diane, Thank you for your kind feedback. About the problem that you have stated, the hotel staff are sincerely sorry for all the inconveniencies that they have caused to you and highly appreciate all your kind efforts to perfect their service. The Prince International Hotel has changed its name to Chengheng International Hotel since last April, however, the sign outside the hotel remains unchanged. We were informed by the staff at the Sales Department that the hotel will have a partial renovation in this June and by then, people will find the hotel name shown both in Chinese and in English. They sincerely welcome you to stay at the hotel in the coming future. Thank you again for your kind reply.

Hello TCG team.
I would be happy to answer your questions and for you to publish my review.
1. The Chengheng International Hotel in Xian is rated as a 4 star hotel and I would agree with that rating. The location is very close to The Bell and Drum Towers and to all the major shops. The staff were very helpful but the staff on the front desk did have limited English. However, I had a Chinese friend traveling with me and that proved to be very helpful. The porter who manned the front door was extremely helpful.
The rooms were well appointed and clean. However, as it promotes itself as an international, I found the lack of coffee making facilities a little disappointing. There was a group of French tourists staying at the hotel at the time of my visit and they are big coffee drinkers. There was also a lack of information or hotel directory with details about the facilities and services available at the hotel.
The price and the location are it major selling points. It would do the hotel a great favour if it had more information in English especially if it wants to promote itself as an international hotel.
The restaurant where breakfast is served was a little hard to find (refer to my comment re hotel directory) and the directory would need to be printed in both Chinese and English.
Overall, though, the hotel is reasonable value for money and very well placed for both international guests.
I cannot rate your service highly enough. It is fast and efficient and when things change (as what happened when the hotel I selected put up their rate) your company took the trouble to advise me and ask me if I would still like to stay at that hotel or change to another. Now that is what I call good service! My request was promptly dealt with and responded to. A client could not ask for more. You can be rest assured that I will recommend your service to anyone I know traveling to China and I will certainly use your service again in the future.
You are welcome to publish my hotel review and use my name and nationality.
Regards, Paul Knight

The Prince Hotel, Xian was and ...
The Prince Hotel, Xian was and excellent hotel and they even upgraded me to a suite for the same rate as my single room which i was very happy about! I would have liked to stay longer to take in more of the sights but only had a few days!
I recommend this hotel and the staff were courteous and spoke English well enough for me to communicate with them!

This is the second time I have used your service and for the second time I am pleased with the results. The few problems we had were not the fault of TCG Booking Centre. However there is one matter on which you may be able to supply helpful feedback to the Hotel.
Two of the reception staff at the Prince Hotel in Xian were trainees and wore trainee badges not name badges. On several occasions they made rude personal comments to each other in Chinese about myself and my Wife. Some years ago we lived in China for several years and we understand Chinese. The two trainee reception staff did not know this. This was not a one off event. It happened several times over 3 days, including a rude gesture on one occasion.
As China becomes more accessible to the rest of the world, more and more foreigners will be speaking or understanding Chinese and workers in service industries like hotels will not be able to hide behind their language. The management of the Prince Hotel need to understand this and train and instruct their reception staff to behave correctly.
On the positive side, the Doormen at the Prince Hotel were very very helpful and also polite.

We are always very happy with the TCG Booking Center. Our stay at the Prince International Hotel in Xi'an was outstanding. The facilities and service are great, and the location (just down the street from the Bell and Drum towers)is fantastic. We would definitely stay here again.
