My stay at the Melody hotel was OK. The room was clean and the staff friendly. I was not able to find the internet connection though and for some reason the shower was cold in the morning. It was really hot at night. Xian is one of the noisiest places I have ever been to. This did not bother me but I would imagine some people would get very little sleep if they had a room on the road at the Melody hotel as I did. The bonus for me was the fact that it was really easy to get to from the airport as the bus stops right outside the hotel.

I would advise people to be weary about the people trying to sell tours at the hotel. As I was traveling by myself I decided to take one to the Terracotta Warriors. It left at 8am and we did not get to the warriors until almost 2pm. We went to all these other places that no one in the group had any interest in. This would have been fine if we had been told first. Unfortunately we were not. I did meet some nice people and get to see a lot of Xian on the tour though.

Location was excellent, airport connection super.
I didn't like the rmb50 for the barrel of water which you never finish - should just have complimentary small bottles which we could bring around
